The Jamakeer Guard: Planetary Defence Force: Penal Coy P4!

I've had the idea for this PDF army on the go since RT came out in '87. I made a start on it in 1989 when I was at GW, but sold that iteration long ago. All this lead I bought long ago, they've been in the painting queue for about a decade or so, and I've finally got around to painting it up. I've still got a long way to go, but this is what I've managed to get done in the last week or so!

Group shot so far.

The more observant of you may have noticed they're not actually on horses, and there's a simple reason for that. It's because I absolutely detest those bloody awful plastic horses they originally came with, so I decided to mount them on Arcturan Mega-Camels. Ideal for fast travel across the barren wasteland deserts of the Jamakeer Outback.

Here's a couple more shots of them. I've not done the chest insignia yet or the standard, as I'm currently designing a set of custom decals to print off on decal paper and do all the insignia at once for the entire army.

Thanks! I'm still recovering from spinal surgery, so I'm at home nearly all the time at the moment, hence the time for painting. Even then I have to take frequent breaks or I lose the sensation in my painting arm!

It's also a *very* simple paint scheme by design, as there are a couple of hundred models to paint up. Blue undercoat, lighter drybrush, base colours for skin and weapons, then black ink all over and highlight the details. Bit of tidying and it's done.

Very impressive productivity. I really like the uniform and the use of Jerry as a civilian advisor seems a bit ironic given his tendency to destruction!

Re: The Jamakeer Guard - RT Planetary Defence Force

First of all, a great force you've completed there Diesel :)

Secondly, I love that Imperial Assassin converted from an old Citadel ninja :) way cool!

And lastly, most importantly, how the fuck did you manage to get those eggs to stay in those dynamic poses without collapsing? Those things are notorious for being bloody fragile. What's your trick Diesel?

Top work man, really impressive!

High viscosity superglue and spray on activator is the trick! I worked on one leg at a time, from the ankle piece up, if you see what I mean.

Ignore the foot and leave it until last, as it'll position anywhere. If you glue the bottom two leg pieces to give you a nice dynamic action (holding them in the right position then spraying with activator), then the 'thigh' piece will attach relative to that. Work out the vertical angle of the leg in relation to the body (I splayed mine out slightly to give them 'action poses', and glue that leg in. Then start on the other side, working from that one. Once it's all together, you can use some low viscosity superglue dripped into the joints to stiffen it all up, and you're sorted.

Heh, I've been collecting them for well over a decade, I thought it was about time they saw some paint! If I do ever get it finished, I'll be absolutely amazed, lol.
