Gathering dust i'm affraid ..... i would like to finish it one day .... so many projects so littkke time.
Although it would fit into this project quite nicely....what with being white an everything.

Heres what we are talking about .... This is what I was doing in 2007!!!!

Here was my 'concept' work for it.



Here is the my High Elf castle. It is a WIP.

Some thought went into the defence of this castle. The idea of the bridge out to the island tower is to give a field of fire down onto attackers on the causeway and attacking the walls. The causeway itself has a shoulder high wall so that spearelves are provided with complete flank protection when the occupy the causeway forcing opponents to take them on from the front. There is also a large door in the rear of the castle to allow knights/ chariots to sally forth. Should the gate be breached attackers would ahve to fight there way through the body of the castle and then appear from one of the doors on the upper level and face the troops waiting for them there ...then to gain accsess to the central tower they would need to fight their way through the upper gatehouse and then cross the inner bridge. Giving the elven lord ample time to do his hair. (Yes, I do need to get out more).







My aim is to paint enough archers to stand shoulder to shoulder around the entire wall and enough spearmen to fill the causeway. That is nine men wide 18 ranks deep. I think it takes about 90 archers to do the walls. (so towards the same number of archers if they go two ranks deep on the wall. (But as High Elves WILL NOT be firing in two ranks ....Grrr.)

A new wizard appeared in the ruins of Frostgrave a couple of nights ago.

So you can't have Santa without Elves ....

So here are the Elves:

First the apprentice: (I convertion to give him a staff)



Then in contrast to the Dwarf warband being predominantly Infantrymen ... I wanted the Elf warband to be largly archers.
(It makes them very dangerous in the game!)

I started with a bunch of old Jes Goodwin Elves ... with added fur trim:



and added a selection of later edition Gary Morley Wood Elves:


I have this guy as a ranger:



These incude a couple of plastic minis one from the very first plastic warhammer armies box set and another from the 5th edition monopose ones:





... and here they are all together: (I think even though they are from different sculptors and different editions they all come together nicely with the same treatment)

Frostgrave continues to attract wizards from all over the known world.
These guys are not 100% finished ... but they are close enough for some photos.

I added the Frostgrave Bard .... he fits in quite well with a matching paint job.

Did a bit more on the cliff pieces as part of my dungeon tile project .... rebased them, with squares for Quest, tarted them up a bit, added more snow texture to the the new base boards and touched up the old snow.

Then redid the interior ... as in July the next frostgrave supplement "Into the breeding pits" takes us into the dungeons under frostgrave:

Finally here are some shots of the tbale that was the set up for a big Christmas game.
I have just about enough scenery for an 8ftx4ft Frostgarve table ...













So that brings this thread up to date.
Hope you folks like seeing what i have been up to even if it is not strictly oldhammer ... there are a few nice old minis in there somewhere.

So Frostgrave has a river running through the middle of it apparently. I also need a river for another Project I am working on at the moment.
G.R.O.G (Gloucestershire Retro and Oldhammer Gamers)....have settled on a plan for Oldhammer day this year
This year G.R.O.G. will be running a game we have been calling ...

"Coldhammer"

This is a 'Frozen' version of Oldhammer .... specifically first edition Oldhammer.
We will be doing some stuff set in the Redwake River Valley campaign included the First edition of Warhammer.



As you can see the river is a bit of a key feature .... and crossing the river is a feature of a number of scenarios.
More about that later.

Here is the start I have made on the river.

I started off with some river sections from my good friends at Amera plastics,
As soon as I got these I realised how easy it would be to ceat a great frozen river as the thin plastic sheet would be perfect for ice extending out into the middle of the river. So the first thing I did was to cut each piece in half witha wiggly line straight down the middle ....
Then stuck them onto some more whte plasticard and cut to shape.

Next I was going to need a way across.
So a long time ago when I was a boy I had this great Airfix kit that was a checkpoint. it had a tower with a spotlight and a barrier and a sentry hut and it had a bridge.
Here it is



They have recently re-released it



So I needed to do aa bit of work with clay to get this to join the river pieces:







Finally I needed to make a ford ... fords are a feature in the red River valley campaign.

Then just needed to 'pimp' the pieces up a bit with some vegitation and the odd rock .... Here they are ready for the paint job:









Here is the last piece I made by chopping up two of the smaller corner pieces to make myself a tight bend:
