Here are the high res scans of the pics from the 1992 calendar, as discussed in optimus' thread:

Many thanks to optimus for making me aware of this calendar, and to Viruz (of http://www.metalmagic.de fame) for providing the scans! Click the pics to see bigger versions.

Those are great!

Does anyone know what happened to the metal magic orc molds? I think mega minis used to sell them, but where are they now?

This has just made me want to go and buy a whole bunch of Metal Magic figures - their catalogues did not do these figures justice!

Anyone know where the ranges are all these days?

The orc molds are with Midlam Minis (listed as goblins, if I don't remember wrongly).

Johnny (of Mega Minis) has a list of which molds he have sold and to whom:
http://megaminis.com

Those are not only Metal Magic stuff though, but all sorts of things. =)

The main purveyors of old Metal Magic nowadays are:
Midlam Miniatures - http://www.midlamminiatures.co.uk
Armorcast - http://armorcast.com
Turnkey - http://www.turnkeyminiatures.com

There are plenty of others, and I hope to make an update to the Lost Minis Wiki to cross reference the codes to those who are still in production.

Stunning stuff! I know nothing of Metal magic figures....but these are just amazing and remind me very much of the excellent dioramas from the citadel journal c1987 that pulled me into Warhammer back in the day.

thanks to all who made these pictures happen!

Cheers,

Most of the dioramas are by Michael Immig, who also did a bunch of dioramas and nutty conversions displayed in WD. Recognize the style of the cover of WD#100? =)

I remember him posting a few threads on LAF a few years ago with new pics of his old creations, a bit like Steve Blunt did on his fantastic blog:

That's a really close likeness, Viruz! What's that skulking about in the woods? =)

Didn't you also do another big-ass tavern scene? And a remake of the city scene? I remember seeing them on your site years ago.

Lovely stuff! Anybody else miss that slightly soft focus you always used to get on miniature photography due to being done on film rather than digital?

Lovely, lovely, stuff, thanks for sharing, although it just fuels the need to add it to my ebay watch thingy.

That one with the insect warriors is the most Realms of Chaos thing I've seen, ever!

Finally had a chance to look over these. Excellent work! My local shop in the 90's had about 10 or so blisters of Metal Magic, but I don't think I ever bothered to even look at them. Now, I wish I had!

He means that the images aren't as sharp and crisp. However, I don't think that has anything to do with film/digital media and more too doo with style and technique of the time.

Yeah, same here ardyer. They weren't visible in Australia either. It's a real shame because they are great looking minis. I'm glad I've managed to get hold of some in the intervening years.
