Re: The Halfway House.

Well funny you should say that because the still growing french oldhammerers (FTW) are getting serious on the idea of preaching the good word at a convention in a year's time.
There are motivation, love of games, good models and incredible people about to build something on this side of the channel. We'll learn from BOYL 2013 what we can and hopefully get to show the best of us.

Nottingham Wargaming and venue free for all.

Foundry Gaming Venue

Wargames Foundry Miniatures,
24-34 St Marks Street

About
Foundry Gaming Venue is a gaming venue for all like minded people within the Nottingham/Nottinghamshire/country area who play Wargames, Boardgames and Games of any system/maker.

Description
One hopes this site will be of interest not just to existing gamers and potential recruits but also to anyone interested in gaming. While the Foundry site is centred around Foundry's activities it is hoped that the gaming will also be of interest to the wider gaming community in the Nottinghamshire area and beyond.

The gamers there are a genuinely friendly and welcoming bunch and it is hoped that futher ue will bring together other people people interested in a wide range of games including, but not limited by a specific system or game type.

To Quote Marcus

'We have a reasonable amount of gaming activity at Foundry now: most Saturdays we seem to have something going on be it God of Battles or board games or such. Some largish events are planned for later in the year.

However the aim is to have something more, like a regular Wargames club running. Foundry have loads of space and lots of tables and it would be great to see continual gaming activity through the weekends.

While the factory shop are enormously happy to have visitors, we are happy to play and see games run. However what would really be marvellous would be to see loads of gamers turning up with their armies and actually fighting battles and making use of the space and venue as a whole.

We've been trying for some time now to find a group, or groups, of gamers who would like to use us as a regular (or semi-regular or occasional) venue.

So this is where gamers step in finding a groups of people who are model soldier and gaming enthusiasts, and linking the gamers and groups with a venue point.

We really don't want it to be the Wargames Foundry club, this would we think be a bit claustrophobic if what is after all a commercial organisation figure heading and organising everything.. We really do want it to be a proper Wargames and any other sort of 'gaming you fancy' sort of club.

This is an open gaming venue that does not require you to only play one system or game, with the backing of a team of lawyers, but rather melding of minds and ideas, a melting pot of gamers to fight epic battles make new friends and create a community hotspot within the industry.

We could certainly run a number of clubs and/or events here separately but simultaneously: we have loads of space and tables and facilities and whatever: Even tea urns!

So, if any of you would like to come and use our venue, as a one-off, or the beginnings of a more permanent arrangement, just get in touch and come along. If two of you, or four of you, or eight, fancy fielding your armies on a nicely terrained table that is much bigger than you could fit in your house, then we have the ideal venue and the ideal table (and tea and coffee). Evening gaming can be arranged with no problem, it just needs to be organised in advance as insurance requires that Wargames Foundry need to have members of staff on the premises.'

Re: Nottingham Wargaming and venue free for all.

A a community hotspot within the industry certainly sounds like a noble venture - I'm sure you'll see various regional groups of Oldhammerers beginning to use the Foundry as a meeting point to play out various campaigns and scenarios. If we weren't so busy with local stuff at the moment it'd be great to see some kind of gathering for Erny's Orctober and any other themed months folk come up with.

I'm sure us YOBBO's will be down at some point - a few of us will be down for Blog Con - after the fantastic time we had at the Oldhammer weekend.

Quite like the look of God of Battles - picked up a load of Half Elves and Tribeswomen when I was at the Oldhammer event, although they'll mainly be moonlighting as Amazons for my Lustrian project!

Re: The Halfway House-Nottingham Wargaming and free venue.

Foundry is great for a venue, and it would be even better to just get more gamers going down for anything, even better with Oldhammer, etc.

Am 'still' working on a large game of Space hulk, but have option for smaller games, etc, just add players.
