Finished 3rd Edition Bretonnian Army Showroom

Finally finished. I posted a picture of the unpainted force back in November 2014 so it has taken 15 months (I have painted quite a lot of Undead in this time as well).

So here it is...

Now then, I have to say I love the colour and detail. You get the distinct feeling that each regiment has a background and hero to lead it. How many points does it come out to, and have you written up a story for the army?

Fantastic looking army you've created there. I like the army balance you've chosen too. A nice mix of cavalry, infantry plus other bits. Some Brettonian armies are too knight heavy in my view. Well done.

So to answer a few questions...

King Arthur's Q on Decals: I don't like using decals, so most of the time I used old citadel ones for reference only. On the odd occasion that I have used them directly on the model they have all been painted over, hiding the tell-tale signs that a decal has been used. The boar shields that were used were old citadel ones.

Galadrin's Q on Army background: I have not thought much about this yet. I plan to create a web based 3rd edition campaign set in Bretonnia, with a bit of a back story, much like Mc Death or Terror of the Lichemaster but on a grander scale as between my brother (Gavzilla) and I, we have a sizeable army for every race in WFB.

There is a bit of structure to the colour schemes used. I have followed the colouration rules in WD137 and also grouped my force into smaller "regional forces". For example there is a Green and White striped knight in the Noblesse d'epee unit who is a land owner with some armed forces at his disposal that he has bought to the fight which include 20 retainers with double hand weapons and a mortar. These groups of miniatures could be added at different stages of a campaign.
