Squat Mercenaries (now with cyberslayer)

I've finished a unit of ten cyberslayers. That means it's time for a unit photo, and some army fluff.

These models include all three unreleased cyberslayers, two of the squat pirates, and Bob Olley fantastic miniatures space dwarf berserkers.

Master Cyberslayer Borzag Reactorgut was borderline self-conscious. He had served as Master Cyberslayer for three months - twice as long as his predecessor and three times as long as the Master before that. It raised eyebrows when a Master Cyberslayer survived so long. Much longer and it would get unseemly.

It was with perhaps some compensatory ferocity that he bellowed at his new recruits.

"Dogs! We go to war! Are you ready to bear the grudges of your ancestors?"

"Yes!"

"And the grudges of our paying clients?"

"Yes!"

"And are you ready to hew and hack the foe apart limb by limb?"

"Yes!"

"Then recite the Cyberslayer oath!"

A collective clearing of throats filled the room, as did several deep breaths. And then in unison:

"In exchange for due consideration, including but not limited to hazard pay and a death benefit separately identified in Schedule 43, I accept appointment as a Cyberslayer.

I understand that this is an inherently dangerous activity. I understand that the risks include but are not limited to: death, maiming, paralysis, and permanent disfigurement. I understand and accept the risk that I will be shot with projectile weapons and/or energy weapons, that I will suffer bombardment from artillery, tanks, dreadnaughts, and/or similar vehicles, whether piloted or automated. I understand that I am also at risk for injury and/or liquidation by hostile aliens or biomass of any sort, whether presently known or unknown.

I agree to hold harmless and indemnify The Grand Mercenary Company of the Stronghold Worlds and/our its affiliates and subsidiaries for any claims of damages, whether by clients or third parties, arising from, in connection with, or otherwise related thereto, the above referenced service as a Cyberslayer."

The oath finished. Master Reactorgut surveyed his cyberslayers with satisfaction.

Unreleased second edition hearthguard.

I plan to use the model as my warlord.

Glad you like!
They are excellent models.

The squat pirates and the squat adventurers are especially characterful.

I've always liked the look of the Bob Olley Ironclaw squats too, though I personally haven't painted any of those yet.

I've now got another small squad finished. These are all Bob Olley sculpts - two of them from Fantastic Miniatures, the others are single piece ironclaw miniatures squats.

A modest update of a couple Olley iron claw squats. I’ve been mostly painting other projects.

Trying out a new, brighter paint scheme for the next unit.

Finally got some Olley psychic mutant scrunts.

These will be played as engineers or models accompanying support weapons.

My squat mercenaries got a ... Bob Olley ... thing.

I’ll use it as a mole mortar or an objective.

Ages or not, squats are always a great project. And you can pick them back up at any time and add a few more. :)

Yes!

I’m a believer in bouncing between projects as the painting mojo dictates.

And the biggest games I’ve been playing are 1k games of 2nd ed, and I’ve got enough painted squats to credibly hit that as-is.
