Amazing paintjob on your models. and I love everything that is Heroquest related!
I only do not agree with your choice for the warrior as he is the only one that is not looking really old-school.

Thanks!

I love the Mordheim knight and yes he isn't quite the right era but deserved painting; he's been waiting a long time! There are some better-suited warriors waiting in the wings to be painted up at some point too.

Also from the wrong era is this guy, a Brian Nelson Big 'Un champion.

Went a bit too cartoony on the shield here, will try to dial it back again for the next ones I think.

More Oldhammer here; will be quite a high-ranking Orc Warlord on the matrix. I resisted doing stripy trousers on this feller; I'll save those for the Ogre Captain.

And a couple more troublemakers:

Thank you!

Another cheery Kev Adams middlehammer boy here.

Closeup of the shield, another good 'un. Am considering opening up an extremely specialist Warhammer-themed nail art bar.

The design on this one is inspired by this excellent JB pic from the '92 Warhammer Armies Orcs & Goblins book. Lots of pissed-off evil sun designs on this; will absolutely be revisiting it for shields.

Eight more greenskins (well, seven and an Ogre) to paint and the matrix is complete! Cheers for looking, stay safe ;)

Done another very old boy...

I've got rather mixed feelings about these crocodile-like Orcs. I like how characterful they are but the scale is all over the place and the anatomy is pretty off. But at least they're nearly naked, so quick to paint up! Unlike this Boss.

I think everyone must have owned a copy of this impressive guy to lead their plastic monopose Orcs. For the shield face I made a press mould from a banner top. I'm not convinced this was any easier or looks any better than painting them myself though.

Six more to go! Cheers for looking :)

Good to know, that someone has the same hobbyhorse like me. AHQ is my favourite dungeon crawler. I've also started to paint a complete set and the aim of my miniature collection is to own every miniature which is shown in the AHQ game, expansion and WD articles. I'm going to make a dungeon out of Depron/sandwich card tiles with 30x30mm fields. I've made an AHQ mold for 40mm and 25mm round bases, too, but switched back to gras bases as hommage to the old McVey paint jobs.

I use the old Fantasy Army Orcs, Goblins and Skaven to expand my metal collection, as I like them more than the Skaven provided in the box.

Nice! Did you read the link to the SU&SD article I posted on the first link? That says it all for me; I spent a lot of my childhood messing with the solo rules and knocking together profiles for the minis I had access to.

I have to say I have a real love/hate relationship with the yellow-brown stone that's on all the Advanced Heroquest tiles. On the one hand it's an iconic part of it and it's so different to the dark greys and browns of other dungeon crawlers. On the other hand it makes all my bases and such unsuable with any other systems! Love your WD Warhammer buildings by the way and looking forward to seeing your dungeon tiles!

Meanwhile I've done some more doors. These are by Heresy Miniatures and are part of a dungeon kickstarter... I missed this and can't find anything about it but worth keeping an eye on. Really nice chunky pieces of resin with a real attention to architectural detail; I love them.

The mould on the right-hand one is GW Astrogranite painted green which turned out nice. I'll be going back and adding some details like that on some of the other bases I've done.

Naturally I set up another scene as well. Because I am very much a mature 37 year old.

"Now Pancho, which door shall it be?"

Some real nice painting going on in this thread. The effort you’ve put on details like freehand shields really shows (ogre’s pendant didn’t go unnoticed either!).
My favourite has to be river troll on page 1, even though I’ve never been a fan of those 90’s river trolls, your painting makes the model look really nice. Fishes hanging from the belt are just beautifully painted!

Update!

Gobbo with an axe. 'Nuff Said.

Orc Champion, though he'll be one of The Ladz in AHQ because he's a bit on the small side. Love this guy with his cheeky beer bottle and nasty grin.

Gorfang Rotgut and obligatory fancy shield. He'll be a 'Warchief' which is the highest status Orc on the list. As I expected this massive hunk of lead was a bit of a chore to paint. Kev seems to have enjoyed covering him in every kind of armour possible with all the fiddly details he could contrive. Maybe I should have picked a different model to lead the Ladz? Anyway, it's done now and I'm very happy with the shield. Went a bit far with the orange on the armour though.

Three models to go... BUT I've decided to extend this already-dragging project by replacing the non-freehand shields on the boyz for consistency and add some more detail to the bases (moss, mould, fungi... all that sort of crap). Still hoping to finish by the end of the year though.

Cheers for looking and for the nice comments

Three models to go ... to finish the TitD or the Sonnenklinge Orc matrix?

Love the shields they are a piece of art for their own!

By the way: there's a helpful AHQ generator software available, which negates the biggest issue of AHQ - the time consuming table rolling: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/12925/ahq-map-generatorzip

There's three left to finish the Orc matrix... then there's lots more minis where these ones came from. :)

Thanks for the link that looks handy for when I finally get a game in!

Quick post! Some more shields for you :)

1082066_sm-Freehand%2C%20Goblins%2C%20Oldhammer%2C%20Orcs%2C%20Shield.jpg

Most of these will be going onto already-painted greenskins to replace inferior shields.

Really want to get the last two Orcs finished before the end of Orctober... 11 days, should be more than possible, right?

Okay they look far too good. Amazing work, very jealous of your skills! All the work on this thread has been stunning to see, I'm very fond of the tiled bases you've given the models.
