First Painted minis since 3rd Edition!!

O.K. So i have been rather adverse to painting since i got back in to toy soldier bothering a few years ago. For some reason a spate of lost mojo and its subsequent return has made me look at my approach to all things hobby and attempt to put paint to miniature. What I want to do is build two small warbands for a narrative type campaign i have some ideas for and then see if i fancy doing some more to expand the whole thing. I have so far finished the warbands core troops so i thought I would share here to get some tips and indeed hints on how to improve my rather primitive brush 'skills'.
The minis i have used are all 20mm plastics from a wide range of manufacturers including Airfix, Mini Art, Revell and Strellets and the paints/brushes are all cheep artists supplies (mostly 'borrowed' from my ever so patient wife). Heres the First Group, A band of wrong'uns by the name of the Mud Hole posse lead by the notorious sell sword 'The Crimson Git':

To oppose them (and hell bent on bringing the Crimson Git to justice) are the forces of the judicious and needlessly intense 'Filthy' Harold, these men on a mission to nab the Mud Hole posse for some undisclosed crime or ten!:

That's a great selection of miniatures. I'm always envious of your collection of Medievals. And to see them in paint? Bravo! This is a truly fantastic development and I really look forward to seeing where it goes. As big a revolution as the invention of Talkies. Sprinks is now in Technicolor! :)

Great stuff. Nice to see the 20mm getting some love, and I like the weatherbeaten look of these ruffians - Team Crimson Git and the Mud Hole posse. for the win!

Finished some Skelibobs over the weekend. They are 1/72 scale Caesar Miniatures.

Slightly different tack for these next minis but over on my ever dodgy blog i have issued a challenge to myself and anyone else that fancies it to build an army for whatever rules set they wish for £30 or less. This was prompted by the prices some of the larger more prominently placed figure manufacturers charge and the fact that it would presumably make the hobby rather less attractive to some, especially those like myself with a smaller budget. So to this end i have ordered £27 or so (with postage) worth of 12mm figs from the nice folk at Kallistra in order to build a small force of mercs to be used in several game systems including Warhammer, one hour wargames, kings of war and chaos wars. I will also create a force to oppose them once this one is completed, again following the £30 limit so the small scale wont be an issue as i will have two forces ready to face each other!. I started with the armies command stand:

To give some idea of their size the minis are based on a 2 pence coin. I hope to have the first unit ready soon.
