As I painted them in 1989 ish, I think I used Games workshop blood angel red, lighted with yellow / white.
Today I would use a grey undercoat with cheery red (Artiste colour) base and highlighted with crimson (Miniature Masters) and then lighted with yellow / white mixed in the crimson.
