Orc Bolt Thrower

My first post of my painting - an old set of figures (Orc Bolt Thrower) that I've just got round to painting. And, of interest to this board I'm sure, some of the paints I've used are original ones from the old Citadel boxed paint sets I bought when they first came out in the eighties and my Expert Set inks are still going strong and were used on these figures.

Lovely woodwork on that crossbow. I hope you'll share more of your painting :)

Thanks! I certainly will. I have to admit to being a big Grenadier fan (they did the best dragons!) but I liked the older Citadel stuff before they went all 'chaos death spiky bits' so have a fair bit done and plenty still waiting to be painted. As stated above, I still have some of the original paints and use the expert inks all the time - wish I could still buy them.

Seems bizarre that I can still use paints from the eighties but a dry gold that I brought recently has already become unusable!

My buying always outstripped my painting, then the kids came along and it all went in the cupboard for decades. I was very impressed that most of the paints remained useable when I took them time back out last year.

Another Orc to join the Bolt Thrower crew:

Very nice. Good work.

Thanks! Haven't really got the hang of posting photos yet - keep hitting the size limit, so they're not as clear as I'd like as I've had to compress and crop them. Any tips?

Mind you, I'm not that good at getting the actual photos in the first place!

Great job on those orcs.
Old paints are gems: they seem to be made for slow painters like I am.

Nice work on those Orcs, looking forward to seeing more of the gathering tribes!

Thanks! Probably Goblins next as I've just about finished the old Goblin Raiding Party set from the eighties. A bit lacking in detail those early sculpts but they had real character.

The Coat d'Arms range are a pretty good match - though I haven't managed to find the really light blue that I had in the original Citadel box sets. Luckily my original is still just about usable with a lot of dilution and stirring!

Their coloured metallics are lovely though.

You have some lovely orcs going on! Post more!

Thanks but I have no more orcs painted up and not many in my mountain of lead awaiting painting. There's still a fair bit of other old Citadel figures though, including a few more goblins, so I will post more.

Struggling through an old Grenadier undead dragon at the moment - not with the paint job, but I foolishly decided to cut out the lead between the ribs rather than just paint it black and several hours, and three broken drill bits later, I've barely sorted out two gaps. :?
