Not knowing a damn thing about model tanks and kits, I was wondering if any of you might be able to shine a light on this subject?

Somehow 1:72 keeps nagging me?
The boxes usually aren't very informative.
I know I read about Dale Hurst's infamous cult limo's somewhere recently (and I cant find info in the RT compilation book) and the staff car he used-forgotten the scale!!!
Im considering using a WWI male/female tank as a landraider for my drunken, socially awkward, vertically challenged space peoples...

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, ta

1:72 tanks are for use with 20mm figs so would be quite small with 40k figures. Modern 28mm figs are nominally 1/56 scale although that varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. The 2 larger scales of model kits are 1/48 and 1/35 (or sometimes 1/32). 1/48 seems to be mostly aircraft and 1/35 mostly armour (I could be wrong but thats my impression). If memory serves the 1/35 models are the ones used for 40k. The sci-fi nature of the conversions tends to obscure the scale difference. Hope that helps.

I have a few bits of 1/35 stuff lying around. If you want I can take some photos with marines standing beside them.

Here we go then -

First up is a photo of a 1/35 German tank from the start of WW2, these are much smaller than the later tanks so might be a better fit scale wise.

2nd photo is a 1/35 Sherman, which is a fair bit bigger than the German tank.

3rd photo is a pair of 1/72 tanks - compare the Sherman to the Tiger and refer back to the 2nd photo and you'll get an idea of how big one of them would be in 1/35

4th & 5th photo are of a toy tanks from a pound shop - no scale and not very detailed.

I've got a 1:48 Sherman tank I'll post comparison photos of in the next few days.
