New Old-Schoolish Showcase: Ogres

So here's an idea. Rather than flood Johns thread deciding whether he likes Marauder minis, I thought I'd collect images of some non-Citadel Ogres that I think are compatible with old Citadel, or maintains some of the aesthetic, these might not be 100% "compatible" with Jes's Ogres, Golfags, or Olly's Ogryns - certainly none of them are as "chunky", but I think do have some of the Old Citadel vibe - feel free to discuss on that or suggest others!

Ral Partha Trolls

Some not so good pictures of bare metal of the full range (14) http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/olley/index.php/Ral_Partha_-_Trolls
These can be had for £2.75 - £3.75 each from Ral Partha Europe (Troll Range).

I think these make great Steppe Ogres, a nice mix of improvised and hand-weapons, gives them a domestic, civilian militia feel about them.

Again, £3.25 each from Ral PArtha Europe (Ogre range)

These are more barbarian, mercenary types, again with a bit of a steppe feel about them.

4 in the range, as "Large Ogres" from SHQ for £4.00 each.

These were for the Fantasy Warlord game by Gary Chalk and Ian Bailey. The other two designs are a bit out-there for me, and there is a third which seems to be uncatalogued.

Otherworld Miniatures

This Cheiftan is 50mm to the eyes, and the troops are 45mm to the eyes cost £12.00 from Otherworld Miniatures Ogre Range

These are very in keeping with AD&D imagery, rather than Warhammer as you'd expect from Otherworld, but I think useful as another tribe, perhaps cave-men, slaves, gladiator types, or even "Savage Ogres".

So far I have some of the Otherworld and the SHQ in my warband

The otherworld ones are very true to some old D&D artwork ... so take me right back,
I like the Olley ones ... but favorite for me are the RP ones at the top.
If you hadn't told me I would have guessed they were otherworld ... they will fit right in ... and a good selection ... I'm tempted
