Anyone have any good tips for figures that fit (in style more than scale, really) well with Rogue Trader stuff? Not proxies or stand-ins, really - but stylistically similar models. In other words, no retro 60s TV-show stuff or modern Halo or Mass Effect styled sleek body armour! =) Here are my own findings, so far:
Ion Age (Alternative Armies)
A plethora of oldschool goodness at a fair price. I assume most of us know about these by now, but worth mentioning.
Black Hat, Cobalt-1 range
Some great stuff, especially the characters and mercenaries - but also a slew of aliens. Much of it (all?) sculpted by Bob Naismith.
Foundry's 2000AD range
Maybe not the most obvious choice, given how recognizeable some of this stuff is - but in my mind the 2000AD stuff plays very nice with the RT style. Knee-pads, decidedly 80s "cool attributes" and so forth. Perfect for space pirates or planetary militia troopers (norts, southers etc).
Rebel Minis' 28mm Valonians
Pretty damn near being too close to modern stuff in style, I think they deserve an honorable mention for supplying a decent Commissar type.
EM4 Miniatures' Spacelords and pre-paints
Doug at EM4 have two fitting offerings, or three if you're into plastics. First, a few pre-painted metal mercenaries sculpted by Bob Olley. Next, a generous helping (although nowhere near complete) of old Metal Magic Spacelords miniatures - mainly the Phagon beastmen-lookalikes. Finally, a bunch of slightly whacky old plastic marine types.
Mongoose's Judge Dredd range
Once again, some of these are a bit too recognizeable to be used as anything but Dredd & Co, but there are also plenty of neat militia, gangers and mutants. Not to mention the robots. Robots! Oh my!
Now, please feel free to add suggestions!
