Except for the fact that all of the miniatures are designed, manufactured and distributed from Nottingham of course.

Not true. The "design work" is done in the UK but the plastic miniatures are actually made in China.

Haha. Do you have any evidence for this? Because I can guarantee you it isn't true.

Oh, and "I heard it on a forum once" doesn't count as evidence

okay................

Whilst contemporary GW business practices isn't strictly off-topic here. I don't see it as all that relevant to Oldhammer, and there are plenty of forums out there for rumour and speculation on such things. Of course there is no real harm in such discussion here either, so long as it doesn't swamp the forum, but I reserve the right to post photos of ladies with goats in such threads.

BTW I very much enjoyed reading James reminisces about newsagents - we actually have one around the corner which is still of the variety he describes. They have a fridge entirely full of out of date Tizer.

Skarsnik is right ... they are all made here. They have a factory. Lots of plastic moulding machines, a big crane system to lug moulds about and everything.
(I have a picture somewhere).

I think the only thing that was made in China was the Realm of battle boards as they had the flat bed technology on the scale to make the board pieces ... in one piece

Are you serious bro?

There is a thread about new years plans in this same sub forum. The sub title of this forum seems to support this thread.

"Discuss anything related to miniature games not covered in other forums"

We are up to three pages here. I'm pretty sure it won't ruin the board. But what do I know, you're the boss...

I couldn't care less about what pics you want to post.

It was more the fact you bothered to comment on the relevancy of this topic to old hammer. I don't really care what you post but I reserve the right to call it out for being lame.

Given that both Orlygg and now Warlord Paul have posted thoughtful stuff reflecting on what this might mean from an oldhammer perspective, it clearly is relevant.

Paul's post can be found here, and includes a plea from that Warhammer should be allowed to die; "Won't it be a blessing if Warhammer goes though, really? A curse, lifted?"

OK. Please explain why an unsubstantiated rumour on GW ceasing to publish a game has any relevance to Oldhammer... because personally I can't see it has any relevance at all whatsoever. The game stopped being published in 1990 as far as I'm concerned

...(running out of goat pictures  ).

We get it.

Go troll the Christmas presents thread. It's not relevant to Oldhammer either.

I can't explain why it's of interest but given that there have been 350+ views of these pages and that both Orlygg & WP have posted on their blogs along with Mr. Saturday and probably a few others it would seem that the members are interested in it. If you don't want to read the posts at least let other forum members read it without posting pictures of goats - once was funny but three or more begin to lose the charm.

Okay. You don't see how it's relevant - in spite of various extended reflections from people who DO think it's relevant. We get it. I'm sure there are other threads that might attract your attention. Please stop being a dick about it. If you think that the game stopped being published in 1990, well that's very sweet, but I only started playing after that so your convenient fiction doesn't really work for me.

Once I have a bit of time later tonight I'll write my own thoughts - not about GW's business per se, but about how Warhammer becoming an "oop" product might give the game the freedom really deserves.

Wow. Such hostility. Never imagined being told to "go troll another forum" and being called a "dick". My gods, there were smilies and ladies with goats, really how serious do you think I'm being about this? (rhetorical question: A: not very).

Knock yourselves out guys.

While I'm not a certified quadruped-ologist, your 1st & 3rd pictures appear to be members of the antelope or gazelle family. As those animals are far more dangerous when confronted on foot & not domesticated, I'd say your true intentions are far more insidious. ;)

People write all kinds of odd things on their blogs... I once claimed to be painting miniatures. I know for a fact that not to be true. I agree with Zhu's point, what happens to WHFB is about as relevant as "What do you think of the latest Vampire Counts army book?". Unless GW did a 180 and started publishing a game to facilitate people having fun with their own miniatures regardless of make, I'm not interested and I don't think it's relevant to "oldhammer". HOWEVER, I still think those who are interested should get to discuss it as much as they want to, without being interrupted by off-topic goatitude. That's just disruptive. Zhu, you dissident, you. =D

Well I think It's relevant and it looks like many others do as well.

In the end It's simple really if people don't like what others post just Block them and you don't have to read there roundabout dribble, I have one person blocked on this forum (And on FB too) so i don't have to read there bitching (I bet you all know who I'm referring too).

Was told it by a member of GW store staff actually. But further research reveals it's just the bases, paint, 'hobby materials' and vast majority of Forgeworld stuff. Not that that excuses them, and if the miniatures are made in the UK  DO A BETTER JOB OF IT!!! ;)

We should all aspire to be less sensitive about what's irrelevant/tangential/highly relevant. Or too definitional about "Oldhammer." Consider that some may simply enjoy playing contemporary editions with old school models. Our playing contemporary models and rules but with an old school emphasis on narrative instead of winning. I'll not suggest that those folks are "oldhammering it wrong", even though it may be different from what I do.

On topic, I find it difficult to believe that a profitable business unit and property would simply be jettisoned (or at least of sufficient size - compare to Specialist Games). But I can envision neglect as more resources are directed to more profitable units.

and again off topic . . . What's the joke about goats?
