I'm looking for info on lore

Essentially the closest I can get to an Oldhammer encyclopedia.
I would love a list of creatures and races.
Maybe even illustrations.
And a background history of the races and places, the factions, religions and deities, if they have a main mythology. Their version of heaven and hell, God and Satan, Zeus and the pantheon, Ra and the myths of Egypt, etc.

The more info I can find, the better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just look in the old books man. That's where it all is. Plus the WD from that time. There's no encyclopaedia per say, apart from online. Google is your friend.

May my Encylopaedia Warhammica be of use?

That's 1st through 8th rulebooks, supplements, army books etc. Only thing not included is a number of the 8th ed army books and supplements that are holding their price on evilbay. :)

The 3rd edition rulebook is probably a good start. It was the largest rulebook and had the most coherent background depiction of the Warhammer World.

Also the 1st Edition WFRP rulebook, as although it focused on the Old World, it went into some good depth in a lot of the items you mentioned.

Seconded. WFRP is great for the more subtle lore.

1st and 3rd edition.
Good places to check.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, just to be clear: 3rd Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battle and 1st Edition Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

These two books:

Excellent! Thanks for the feedback.

I'm also looking for any info I can get on the chaos gods.
Right now, particularly the no-longer-canon Malal.
Can I find out about him/them in those books?

Malal was created during 2nd Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and edited out during 3rd Edition, although some development work was done (notably some artwork by Tony Ackland). WRFP 1E (again, published during WFB 2E) contains one paragraph about Malal. He was created by Alan Grant and John Wagner, best known for their work on 2000AD, in comic strip The Quest of Kaleb Daark published in the Citadel Journal.

For the Chaos Gods you are probably familiar with, you need Realm of Chaos:Slaves to Darkness and Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned, which are for 3rd edition, after Malal was edited out.

Alternatively if you want to go hardcore Oldhammer, with an emphasis on the old, the original Gods of Chaos were quite different to the later pantheon, although Khorne was around, there is more about them in the flyers: http://eldritchepistles.blogspot.co.uk/ ... seful.html
