How much does Xena the Warrior Princess go for?

Not a discussion about cosplay convention escort service...

If one were to encounter the Warrior Princess, how much would be an acceptable price? I know it's relative, but just an idea would be nice - $50 too much?

Is this an unreleased citadel miniature, or something else?

If the former, I have routinely seen unreleased stuff go at $50 USD.

Hard for me to guess what the demand would be, personally. Is there a lot of Xena nostalgia out there?

Thats a cool looking model ... but fifty dollars for one model is alot ... maybe thirty or so ... it looks great - even the face is Xena like.

Kudos.

Unreleased, according to CcmW...

So if I go ahead with the bid and am still the sole one at the end, $50 wouldn't be overpaying...

Could also the figure's aesthetics be a determiner in demand?

When I first came across this unreleased Marauder figure on Jaeckel's blog, thought it'd be offered for a large sum, but ended up paying ~$12, after negotiating the price on eBay...

The tab says "Mercenary," so piqued my curiosity...

It's around $55 with shipping...

I'd have liked an opening bid for $30, but it's unlikely another one's going to crop up and I doubt Foundry will release this, with other stuff, like the Time Warped Wizards*...

*I would really like buy the Warrior Priests and Tilean Hero, among others...

If you like it, bid $50 without shame. Though I say that having no idea how often these come around.

Of late I have bought very few models and instead spent similar amounts to what you are paying on unreleased single models.

As with men's suits, I have come to think that having a few nice pieces, versus masses of less nice pieces, is the way to go.

But that's me.

I doubt they'd have it, tbh. The base writing and sculpting style makes it look mid-90's 'Red Period' to me, which is after Bryan's departure.

The seller's offering a few other unreleased GW figures, like Todd MacFarlane's Spawn, with stating bids between $40-$50, in addition to regular metal figures...

Entered "Citadel Unreleased" and "GW Unreleased" and got a few results, with BiN prices at $100+, while two auctions at starting bids less than $10.

No other Xena figure, so might have to refine the search terms...

If I win, there goes my monthly hobby budget...

Normally I'd avoid the unreleased, as most don't appeal to me, but can't figure out why in this case, since I wasn't a fan of the show. :| Have been collecting Citadel since the early 90s, starting with the Perry Empire range and expanded to Perry, WotC, Rackham and other odds and sods, so have quite a collection to paint. Need more MM60 Marauder Fighters, but hard to justify spending $13/figure and shipping from the UK, so a planned unit of 30 swordsmen will only have 12 Marauder metal and 18 plastic Mordheim figures. Should've purchased more Citadel back in the 90s, from the Red Catalogue, but never thought they'd go OOP.

I'm like that too, but whenever I get something nice, someone or something ruins it...

This figure would be intended for gaming, not display, so would have to be extra careful...

It'd be mid 90s, as Xena aired in '95...

It'd be nice if the former Citadel Militia/Foundry Mercenaries be expanded, with more stuff from the Red Catalogue...

They don't have a lot of stuff from the red catalogue. When Bryan left the split that was agreed was he would take all the older historical stuff and GW kept all the fantasy.
Hence he ended up with the Older Bretonnians, the older empire stuff (both of which the Perrys had done new ranges for) and the orientals ... which GW no longer supported as an army. My understanding is that Bryan basically got the moulds for anything tat was not in the current Fantasy and 40K ranges at the time.

Yeah, the management buy-out was at the end of '91, so that wouldn't be in there.

Foundry did some master mould work for Citadel (presumably when Citadel's own Mould team was overstretched) which was how the odd Citadel/unreleased item ended up in Foundry's moulds, but as far as I'm aware the arrangement didn't persist after the buy-out, and Bryan/Foundry took on the obsolete historical ranges as part of the deal as Harry said. Therefore anything left in Foundry's archives (and I doubt there's anything left now tbh) would predate '91.
