Mechanicus factory fight for BOYL 2018

Just after BOYL 2017, I posted this thread in general discussions. With the intention of getting this moving again, I'm restarting it here.

http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12151&hilit=factory

Rival Mechanicus factions will meet in a trial-by-combat to decide whose interpretation of the STC is correct. Influenced by the board game Robo Rally, there will be conveyor belts, bottomless shafts, laser beams, enormous rotating saw blades, etc. etc. with a skirmish game taking place on top.

Each faction can capture consoles to take control of a section of the factory, or some of the 'house' robots, with the ultimate goal being to get control of the central console and upload your version of the STC.

I'm aiming for about 6 players with a faction of ten each. An options list will be published in due course, but if you are looking to get building, each faction will consist of something like:
- 1 Tech-priest leader
- 1 Robot
- 1 Specialist (space marine, heavy weapon, arco-flagellant etc)
- 2 Servitors - mainly to operate machinery, very limited combat ability

Don't worry about Oldhammer purity. Obviously classic tech-priests are welcome, but I'm planning a mish-mash of robed cultists, barbarians converted to servitors with cyborg bits, Ramshackle Games's robed gangers, new GW Skitarii, 2nd edition Warzone plastics, etc. etc. Let your imagination go. Even better if you can give them a specific theme or unusual colour scheme.

I'm aiming to have 2 or 3 factions available to play with for those that don't want to bring their own.

Re: Mechanicus factory fight for BOYL 2018

Good timing! I have just emerged from my last army project like a bear from hibernation and I want to contribute! I have downloaded the needed bit for an accident counter and will get to work on it.

I will try to do a bits inventory over the next few weeks, but I definitely have a good core of tech-priests.

What else do we need in terms of terrain and similar production?

Yeah I'm still game for this with a Chaos/Dark Mech Warband.

I would like to play in this one. I could do straight forward mechanicus or squats if they are allowed.

Squats would be fine, although increased WS and T would need balancing.

I have generic necromunda style platforms, but I need to get cracking on the machinery. I have a big hoard of bits to make them from. I'm also planning to make a console that Curtis could cast for the objectives. Basically any kind of factory style death trap you can come up with. The more dramatic the better. Moving parts are a bonus.

I figure with the squats I would either just have less of them or keep the stats the same as human.

For scenery contributions are you thinking a set footprint and entry levels? For example 1 foot square with platforms and entry points at Necromunda bulkhead heights.

Re: Mechanicus factory fight for BOYL 2018

I'm using the Necromunda platform heights for levels. I'm going to experiment with sticking magnets in the platforms and metal plates on the underside of the walkways. Not sure how that will work. At ground level I'm aiming to cover a lot of it with tanks of acid, shafts etc. There won't be a specific module size, so if you have something, I'm sure we could fit it in. I'll publish progress on my blog.

What would also be useful is large 'scatter' in the form of machinery/storage tanks etc between 2-4" per side and large enough for a couple of models to hide behind. These could be placed on the platforms to break up LOS.

I've just been doing some Frostgrave stuff (and a house extension), once that's sorted, I will set out a trial table with what I have, take some photos, and plan the additional stuff more carefully. I've got about six or seven towers at the moment, each about 6" by 6" in a variety of styles and colours, plus lots of walkways and walls.

I'm still up for this game, I've got a fair few Servitors to choose from and a couple of EM4 Wastelanders that'll do nicely as robed gangers.

In terms of scenery, have people seen this from Mantic? Might be an easy solution:

Actually very pretty. I especially like the conveyer belt. Might have to get one.
