Re: Thinking about (not) Space (not) Hulk...

There are multiplayer SH rules published somewhere. I remember reading them, 4 players trying to reach the centre of the board, must see if I can dig them out. Otherwise initiativecards sound good.

BTW doyou have the Space Hulk Bible?

Re: Thinking about (not) Space (not) Hulk...

Im a big fan of Space Hulk. I have a copy of everything for it IIRC. Its a great ruleset, nice and quick and very robust.

Im also a fan of small, fast convention games that feature Necromunda/Confrontation stuff. I recently picked up five Ash Wastes Nomads (the Citadel one and the four Marauder. Not the Fanatic era guys) that would make a cool gang.

I have an itch to work on my Spyrers too. They wpuld also be quite cool in that context. And my Scavvies, Escher, Van Saar etc

Im interested in this for sure Axiom.

Interested in this one for sure. My goliaths could be brought into action and I have an Escher gang I want to get going too.

This is right up my street. I can contribute all three sets of first edition Space Hulk and my wee Confrontation campaign at my local club has me being the Scavvy King, so I have a number of Scavvies with stub and hand weapon.

That definitely sounds interesting. I could try to get my Van Saars painted up by the summer -- it would give me a deadline.

OK then folks, I've spent some time sorting out what the plans are for this game.

Anarchy In the UH
Riots in the Underhive! Gangs prowling the streets! Lord Helmawr retreats to his impregnable bastion!

The Underhive of Palatine Spire on Necromunda has erupted in an outpouring of civil unrest following the assassination of key leaders in the manufactorum levels who were petitioning Lord Helmawr for improved workers' rights. Necromundan civilians have taken to the corridors and communal zones of the Underhive and are protesting, looting and burning everything they encounter. Lord Helmawr has sealed off the upper levels of the spire and is marshalling his forces to wrest control back.

A few unfortunate upper hivers and VIPs have found themselves stranded in the Underhive. Lord Helmawr has instructed those gangs in his employ to escort the VIPs safely to the elevator shaft of his southern bastion. Those which succeed will receive a significant bounty and favourable future trading conditions.

_______________________________________________________________

I've adapted the premise of the game a little bit after some discussion with a few other folks, and seeing how well the narrative works on some of the post-apocalyptic zombie games doing the rounds. Essentially, the the game will be played on a gridded board, using the Space Hulk rules - there are several reasons for this, mainly pace and ease of picking up the system.

I figure that we will be able to run an effective game with up to 6 players per game: 4 x gang escorts and 2 players controlling the rioting masses. I'm more than happy to run the game a couple of times if we have more people wanting to join in.

More info will come in due course :)

I am 100% up for this if you can fit me in.

The hardest decision will be picking which Underhiver project to work on in anticipation.

Same here. Seems like a nice small game that could be played in a reasonable time.
Who will provide the opponents?

This is a game that would allow me to use my Nomads (which I WILL finish before BOYL!) in. Thus reducing my need to attempt to get more models painted than I am likely to manage.

Also, I love Space Hulk, I love Necromunda and the Underhive and I've enjoyed games with people already signed up! Count me in!!!

Excellent! Good stuff guys...I've signed you all up on p1. There's one free slot for the game if we needneed and I'll happily do a second run for other interested parties.

Cheetor, Nibl & Skarsnik, can you express preference for whether you want to run hive gangers or the rioting masses (first come, first served). If you want to use hive gangers, you'll need to bring a 5-man gang (I'll provide details in the next day or so) or I'll provide one of mine to use.

Given an option I would rather play as a gang than as the masses, but I can play either role as required.

Not sure if I could get a gang painted up, so i'd rather tend towards the masses-unless I have to provide all the masses :?

OK folks - I've updated the first page with preferences expressed so far.

Niibl - I've stuck you down for the rioting masses. No need to bring models, I'll be providing them.

To repeat what's on the first page, I will be providing the terrain, dice, various counters, VIP models and rioting masses. I will also have spare gangs if needed.

If you are bringing a gang, you will need 5 models:
1 Leader
3 Gangers
1 Ganger with a special weapon

In game terms, they will be counted as a standard Space Hulk terminator squad (Sergeant, 3 Terminators, 1 Terminator with heavy flamer). I'm not worried about whether your gangers have pistols rather than ranged weapons, or whether your heavy flamer is actually a plasma gun on your model - just as long as it's obviously identifiable in game.

I had a minor brainstorm regarding the figs that I want to use for this while driving to work. Im really looking forward to it :)

Wonderful. I strongly approve of this approach. Space Hulk is pretty smooth mechanically speaking. If it aint broke etc.
