So to make it clear: display plinth is not an option?

Why not? Clearly says "no real restriction on the shape of the base". =)

I'm not too keen on the idea of having several entries per contestant. I feel the whole idea of a competition is for everyone to run at once, not for some people to run several times.

Re: The Second Golden Goblin Competition?

I agree, one entry each does seem fair. We don't want to be overloaded with entries after all, and one entry means you can put special effort into one mini... plenty of opportunities for other entries at other times.

On the subject of bases, I see no reason why a display plinth shouldn't be ok, especially if it was surmounted by a gaming base. I guess the idea is to try and keep it as one monster rather than it becoming a diorama... something my entry is getting perilously close to becoming!

Are we going to seek a new category for miniatures each time, or should we stick to a rota of categories? Say for example: Single figure (october), Monster (january), Command Group (april), Battle Scene (july).

Yarp - one entry per competioneer.

Fimm - shouldn't we have random D100 tables to decide on the category for the next competition ;)

Well I wasn't planning to make a diorama, but sadly I don't think I will ever use THIS model in gaming so just wanted to make it look decent behind the glass :)
So the plinth it is...

YES. Yes, we should... can we think of 100 categories though?!

And maybe we should make each entrant roll on sub-tables to wittle down to the exact figure they can paint?!

D100 roll to decide category: 30= Mounted figures
D20 roll to decide race: 14= slann
D3 roll to pick rider: 2= Mixtecas
D3 roll to pick cold one: 1= Cheeper

Should be able to pick one of those up for about £40! :D

I'm tempted to have a stab at something (though that might just be wishful thinking). Got a model I'd like to do but it's a well known character so kind of kills any creativity as far as fluff writing goes. :?

Well I can forgive no fluff if the character is the Lichemaster...

A monster at heart, but probably not in the sense of the competition!
