Hi all

Having realised that a lot of the potential organisation that was considered for BOYL 2013 was not really necessary, I thought I'd start stewarding the discussions around how the event will pan out with a few simple polls - this one checking how much formality you (the community) want in organising an actual game. This poll does not cover any aspects of a painting contest, a trading area or any sorts of modelling/painging workshops - all things that probably require much more organisation. Also, this poll does not cover the involvement in participation games as provided by the organisers - those will also be managed differently.

So, this poll specifically refers to the amount of effort required by the organisers to get you a game on the day.

Of course, I've only listed three answers together with an 'other' option - if you select 'other', please do post what your other is - I have no concerns updating or restarting the poll if my questions are unsuitable :)

Some advice as regards these options about gaming:
The more organisation you put into your game, the better your oldhammer experience will be. That's not to say that just pitching up on the day and having a line-em-up-and-knock-em-down type of game won't be fun, but if you're able to do some thinking before that, you might be able to craft a better scenario, custom army lists, a Games Master, that sort of thing. Those are all things that are harder for us as organisers to do and will require more effort on your parts. If that sounds like you, you're probably selecting Option 1 or 2. This option is probably better if you want to do something quite specialised like a full Realms of Chaos daemonic battlefield with two opposing daemonic hordes, or a game of Siege.

The less organisation you do, the more flexible you'll be, but your game approach will be more 'standard' - using common army lists and points values to determine your battle, probably rejigging army lists on the day to suit each other. This is suited to smaller armies, where the player maybe doesn't have much choice in his figure selection anyway (remember - they must all be painted!) and is suited to players who are looking to get more games in against different opponents.

Neither approach is bad, so please vote as you feel - I just want to gauge how best to proceed. I have a feeling I know what the answer will be, but lets see :)

I have added mine too. Now Gaj, are you going to create one of those 'numbers' website thingys again? I found them rather inspirational and useful first time around? Obviously, there are going to be 'more' people interested in attending this year (for lots of different reasons) and it would be useful to be able to see the bigger picture!

Providing the big game I have planned doesn't go ahead I'm happy to just sort out a game myself.

I am indeed planning to do so, but I want to run a few polls just to get an idea of what I need to ask and how much organisation I need to do.

Very wise. I suspect that the Foundry will only really be interested in how many people they need to cater for.

Hi all

Just a reminder that this poll will be approaching its conclusion soon - I'd still be interested in any uncast votes...
