tool recommendations

evening chaps,

i wonder if anyone could recommend me a decent pin vise and bit set? i'm currently using a citadel one which has trouble gripping the thinner bits, and a bit set i bought off ebay and now discover that the finer bits are so blunt that they're worthless. there are loads out there but i don't really know one from another.

thanks :)

Hello,

For the pin vise, mine as no brand on it so I do not have much to say.

As for the drill bit, I always use Haussmann 1/32” (standard paper clip size wich I do all my pining with)
I can easily go through 30 pining into lead free miniatures before changing these.

When I am on a big project I usually dip the drill in water and dry it (oil based cooling fluid do not play well with acrylic paint) between each hole and do back and forth to clear the trimmed metal off the hole. By that I make sure heat does not build up on the tip, which degrades the bit faster.
