Quick & easy road making method

My new (cheap*) method of making ‘ancient’ Tilean roads

1.Draw lines then stones on foam card
2. Score lines with a scalpel and peel off edges (free hand makes for natural wobbly-ish lines to give a not too neat edge to the paving stones).
3. Peel off the strips in between the paving stones.

4. Cut and pluck off gaps between stones.
5. Press the revealed foam down a bit with the wrong end of a brush.
6. Squirt PVA glue on.

7. Spread the glue – I then stippled it, then respreads it. I have no idea why but it was fun.
8. Paint with mixed cheap acrylic from book shop.
9. Use a brush end to speckle the still wet paint.

10. Use a sponge and some lighter paint to speckle some more.
11. PVA grass along the edges and in between some stones.

Job’s a good one!

PS: If you want to make some old stone animal pens, use cheap fish tank gravel and PVA (liberally poured on) to build walls. No painting required!

* ‘Cheap’ mainly because I already owned the necessary bits and bobs already!
