OK I rolled up my Warbandand it turns out to be a pretty interesting one :

Champion :

 MWSBSSTWIALdIntClWPPV
lvl15 champion244454139789666

OK I can't be bothered doing the maths so just tell me. Is the point value really 666 or did you just think it looked cool I'm guessing it is at least 300 points too many.

It was late and I did not really want to bother either so I just typed something because the staline format needs 13 figures, ;)
Oh and I will share one of your rules : no purchase for me, it must be done with what I already have.

16 hours, 29 minutes left to enter, and counting. A few people here have expressed interest but not sent me a warband, you are only entered once I have your list. Nine entrants so far (listed on the first post).

Re: Chaos Warband Challenge

Here is the draw! I put all the names into an excel and using the random function shuffled them. The first time two people ended up with their own warbands, so I did it again and everyone got someone else’s.

You now have until Midnight 18th April to post a final picture of your warband, feel free to post WiPs before then.

I leave the choice of the God to follow to the painter, good luck!

Sooooo

To sum up, we have a lvl 15 human hero with stats here :
M WS BS S T W I A Ld Int Cl WP PV
lvl15 champion 2 4 4 4 4 4 1 3 9 7 8 9 666

with
- a 4 times overgrown head (comes with an added fear point)
- one magic level
- a chaos weapon with the protection property (choose race before each battle)

and he is followed by
- 3 beast men
- 8 human cultists with goat faces

I think he has a rather good potential , quite balanced and shouldn't be too tricky to build

Human 10 Wizard (rolled 71, upgraded him to lv10 for survivability)
Gift: Willpower increase (Slaanesh). Second gift to be decided upon by painter.
Trait: Short legs (first rolled silly voice, then short legs - decided short legs was funnier from a modeling point of view)
Trait: Spits acid

Retinue:
• 3 Dark Elf (light armour, hand weapon, crossbow)
• 12 Chaos Cultists (handweapon, shield, no physical attributes)
• 2 Minotaurs (fudged. Rolled 4 orcs - didn't feel very Slaaneshi, so rerolled and got 2 minotaurs. Perfect!)
********************************************************************
Warband 8 – Rob_S
Lvl 20 Human Hero

Cool!

What's our view of following this to the letter? I'm planning on only using what I've got, and non Citadel, but have no mount of slaanesh... =/ Do have a very nice chaotic horsie to use, but... could it be considered a "slaaneshi mount", not a "mount of slaanesh" instead? =)

I'd say its open to interpretation, 'counts as' is fine.
Awesome! Then I'm all set and can paint stuff I've wanted to paint for years! =) I already love this challenge!

Just need to finish one tiny little dwarf for a mate before I start painting this...

Re: Chaos Warband Challenge: It Begins!

Good! I have everything I need for my warband.
I will use some 5th ed marauders as half orcs, since they are masked and bulky as I would imagine them.
I also rolled the hypnotic eyes for my leadey and I will give him a flying disk... to be continued!

Re: Chaos Warband Challenge: It Begins!

Looks like a fun challenge. . sorry that I bailed out of this in the end after expressing early enthusiasm, just got so many projects already lned up and busy at work etc etc.

Best of luck to all participants.

Re: Chaos Warband Challenge: It Begins!

My Oh my!

- One sorceror
- 12 cultists ! :o
- 3 dark elves
- 2 minotaurs

All of this in 6 weeks without buying anything? :?
Talk about challenges

I nearly finished converting the sorcerer and I'll try to finish building the band this WE to stat painting as early as I can... this is going to be a hard one !

@ Steve : Hope you like the wraband I rolled for you ;)
@ whoever rolled mine : thank you for the fish ! I think I'll stick with the silly voice, I just found the perfect theme to tie everything ;)

Do we have to post every once in a while or do we post the models now and just the finished war band at the end?

4 sets of eye stalks!

This will test my non-existant conversion skills. I remember a recent Dave King tutorial on making mushrooms for bases that might help.

Pin head might work if I put a 20mm head on a 28mm body yeah?

Now to come up with the bodies, models to use.

I've posted my intrepid search for lead on my blog:

http://ernysplace.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/the-oldhammer-chaos-warband-challenge.html

But to cut to the chase after a pleasant hour searching I have my warband ready to start...

Dammit.

I'll have to start hanging around the forum a lot more (rather than ebay!) as I would have loved to have got involved with this! I just didn't see it.

Looking forward to seeing all these warbands progress...

Heheh, though that looked fun! You can always use map pins for a bug-eyed look!

A four times the size head, easy, you just need to put a big ball of green stuff over the existing head.
