Foundry release Citadel Mercenaries and Blandford Warriors

Foundry have found the moulds for these old Citadel figures and they have gone on sale today at Oldhammer and are now on general sale (images of the original Citadel figures from Stuff of Legends):

They would make great Empire figures!

Fantastic! I've been hunting some of the blandford warriors for the longest time.. hopefully prices are reasonable. Are they doing a one-set deal? Also, those plinth bases, any idea where I can get my grubby paws on them! Cheers, great update. My wallet's in tears again... lol

Can't seem to find it on the Foundry webpage, any idea what they would be listed as?

A bit tangental to this, but I was asking Brian Ansell (name drop!) yesterday how to order the fantasy stuff that's not on their website yet (apparently it will get there, but they've a lot of updating to do). From that conversation my take on his reply was that if you can describe it to them they can put an order together. So at a guess email them with a list of figures using the names from the Stuff of Legends website pics and they'll sort out an order.

I'm a bit gutted actually - I saw a pack yesterday with Myal in from the Mercenaries set, but didn't recognise him. I must get my hands on Wilkin, Piere, Wilmot and probably a few others soon. But first some goblins!

Just ring Marcus at the Foundry and put an order in for the Mercenaries. I bought the first two packs in the range and they are excellent.

Are they on the standard foundry bases or did they leave the slotta tabs on?

Standard Foundry bases.

Thanks. I figured they would be and I'd buy them either way. But since they're not up on the site yet, I could hope ;)

I've added a new post today with pictures of what I bought and an analysis of what is missing from the ranges so far. I also neglected to mention the barbarians...

wonderful stuff
so 16 mercs in total, any idea if they will be 8 to a pack for £12 like the vikings or 6 to a pack for £12 like the samurai?

edit: just read your post properly regarding the 2 missing minis
so 7 to a pack for £12?

Not sure what they're "final" numbers per pack will be. I picked up a pack of barbarians which also had a couple of Blandfords in it, so its possible that Foundry may rethink some packs contents before they go on general release?

I'll can't wait to get my grubby mitts on these. :)

I like my warhammer human forces like this, minis that suggest rag-tag disjointed human petty kingdoms that are often too busy arguing with one another to see the real threat that Chaos presents.
The later super-drilled doppelsoldner style humans with steam tanks and war wagons and 12 different colleges of magic all sponsored by imperial decree just don't have the same charm or character.

Agreed. I remember the first time I saw the illustrations in warhammer armies and thought "this is how I always thought they should be!"

I;'m quite surprised by the many borderline negative comments these are getting on the CCM website...Some people are expecting the value of their originals to go down now and they are not happy about it.

Cheers,

Well i've been reading them too, well 3 things I'd say: First is that the Foundry mini's have no tabs so easy to tell if there the originals or not and second their just throwing there dummys out of the pram. Last of all if there just collecting to see a profit from hoarding them and selling at a later date I honestly don't give a feck about the people doing that anyway.

If I wanted these I'd be over the moon that Foundry were releasing them.

I suppose if I was solely a collector I 'might' get annoyed, but as a collector/gamer I'm very happy.
It's not like people don't still sell the old slotta vikings, normans and old pre-slotta samurai for inflated prices of ebay.
I paid 8 quid for the norse hornblower miniature on ebay last year for my Saga warband as I wanted to field him in my Viking force, and a few weeks later Foundry released him for £1:50 :)

Some people are too concerned with the value of minis to others when the important thing (imho) is their value to yourself.

Now if Foundry would just release some undead Samurai for my hobgoblin shaman to specialise in necromantic spells I'd be a very happy overgrown boy ;)

Here's the tail end of the conversation, though it seems to me that the nay-sayers are in the minority even on the CCM yahoo group.

"I'm not collecting for an investment, but I bought stuff at inflated prices on the basis that it was rare and OOP."

Something is only OOP until the owner of the model's rights decides to put them back on sale again! A lesson here for us all, simply do not buy miniatures at an inflated price! After speaking to Marcus at some length over the weekend, I inferred that they are not entirely sure what moulds they have, but all of the non-fantasy models were taken as part of the sale agreement. Hopefully, that includes the many townspeople ranges that are lovely but cost a bomb to buy at the moment. Personally, I am really pleased these models are in production again. Old school Citadel Norse, Bretonnian and Empire armies were impossible to build six months ago due to the high cost of the models, not so now.
