The Battle of Jaw-break Pass

The Black Orcs & their allies are cutting a swathe of destruction across the Dwarfs homeland, a detachment of the horde has been dispatched in an effort to cut off the Stunties off from their food resources, with orders to break the defenses at the notorious Jaw-break Pass and install their own to prevent food stuffs getting to their former overlords. and allow them to plunder the lands beyond. To do this the detachment has joined forces with many tribes of Goblins, Orcs, Half-orcs , recruited giants and hired Ogres & Horse nomads with promises of loot from the lands beyond the pass.
The hard pressed Chaos dwarfs are aware of the threat and are setting their defenses accordingly with all they can muster at such short notice; sending messages to their allies - warning of the danger and requesting aid to stop the incursion.
Will the Dwarfs have conscripted enough forces to hold on to the pass until their allies come to their aid; will their call be answered, in their time of need; will the horde hold together long enough to break the Chaos Dwarfs resistance without their traditional animosity to one another, taking hold? All these questions and more will be answered at Break-jaw Pass!

All the best

Paul / Golgfag1

The old alliance with Chaos Dwarfs must be honored, the legions of my fanatic Chaos Lord move to the Pass accompanied by a force of Chaos Dwarfs Renegades and their war Machines.

Golfag, you and your horde have forgotten the taste of the whip and I swear your Black Orcs will finish their poor life in the Dark mines of Chaos Dwarfs. You will never leave free the Jaw-break Pass.

Bye Nico

Hi all

Having now planned an army that fits the theme of the day, I find myself with three more figures to paint in order to complete. This means I'm looking for opponents. I would prefer to play an individual or have only one or two allies on the table, as opposed to joining one of the open table games.

I hope to reveal the army list in pictures and narrative over the next few days, but know that it is a chaos army representing Nurgle, constructed using the bizarre and complex rules described in The Lost and the Damned. And Chaotic it is:

There are chaos warriors. There are trolls. There are goblins. There are dwarves. There are undead. The whole unwholesome mess comes to something in the vicinity of 3000 points, if you like to think that way. The army itself is not 'hard' - I have expressly avoided all of the terrifying Nurgle artifacts that result in instant death for all figures in a 20 mile radius, so you stand a chance. If you're very lucky, you might get to meet Gromeo.

Narrative wise, I would like very much to face a good army if possible, so dwarves, elves, empire or bretonnians. Failing that, I would love to face off against an appropriate and equivalent chaos horde.

Hoping to post the army shortly, but in the mean time - any takers?

To quote the Legend "In your dreams", Stunty.

Interesting choice of words, Nico - Chaos Lords, Legions, Renegades, whips and mines; yes, interesting indeed. To swear - upon what, one as to ask? What desperate words have you uttered to save yourselves from the horde? Fear, is obviously beginning to raise it's head within your empty stone halls, STUNTY.
But this choice of words raises the question of some interesting alliances - during the coming days! As your Gods will not be sated by you simply placing your former slaves back under the yoke - you will have sacrifice a great many soul's and spill large amounts of blood to have your foul gods provide you with such a victory; and as their gifts come at a cost - I don't believe your neighbors will be prepared to pay (as you won't be sacrificing your own, will you?); yes, interesting times, indeed; my enemy's - enemy, is my friend!

On a more practical note given this game is to act as a sponge for all waifs & strays over the course of the weekend, I've been doing a bit of tweaking to my earlier timetable will more than likely run like this and allows for some interesting alliances and bystanders:
Saturday morning.
Turn 0:
Defenders deploy within the valley (up to 36 inches on to the table from table edge). Attackers deploy (up to 12 inches on to the table)
Turns 1-2:
Goblin wolf riders & Boar riders (60 +) enter the valley from the direction of advance, escorted by war machines, specials & chariots (wolf & Boar types) and Pump wagons etc.
(Expecting these to skirmish without causing too many casualties for the defenders and generally get in the way).
Turns 3 – 4:
Goblin infantry (200 +) enter the valley from the direction of advance including war machines and specials, possibly escorted by giants & trolls etc.
(A general advance all units – for at least two turns to get war machines in range of defenders, a general bombardment commences, with the specials continuing to advance with the goblins acting as a screen; once defenders engaged by specials goblins advance to engage defenders as well), bombardment continues.
Late Saturday morning early afternoon
Turn 4 - 5:
Possible Allies turn up from their owns choice of short table edge, numbers to be established.
(By this time things may be looking grim for the defenders, hence the need for reinforcements for the defenders entering the game via their table edge, plus an extra hazard for the wolf riders trying the exit the table).
Turn 6 – 7
General melee
(Thing hopefully start to balance out with the arrival of the allies!).
Turn 7- 8
Orc mercenaries arrive (Ogres) general advance from attackers table edge
Sunday Morning
Turn 9 – 10
Main body of Orcs (250+ figures) enter from attacker’s table edge with more specials and any further possible Allies turn up from their owns choice of short table edge, numbers to be established.
Sunday, Mid Morning - Afternoon
Turn 10 – 20
General melee! (advance / retreat)

So now I am able to get to this I can plan some games, late I know...

Anyone interested in a 3-4 player campaign game of Song of Blades and Heroes? most likely on the Sat. For those that haven't played it is simple to learn and quick, to play.

I have the scenery to make a town layout

Its good for people that cannot bring, or don't have an army, you can join in with as little as 4 minis.

If anyone has objections to this as its not oldhammer then thats fine, I will play more 3rd ed, no worries

If anyone interested/ any organizers who have querys could reply ASAP that would be great - I will start a new thread with some details....

Hi Selkie

I don't think theres anything wrong with running SOBAH. If anything, you may end up picking up several stragglers and players whose games have ended early.

Does anyone fancy a game of blood bowl on Saturday morning? I believe Harry's bringing an Oldbowl stadium and I'll bring my Skaven team who might hang around in it!

Sounds good.

Brilliant - I'll stand next to the stadium looking hopeful then!
