Kniggets!

As I mentioned in the marketplace, I've been looking for legs for my old bretonnian knights. I've got 18 of them and I've decided that the chances of me finding enough legs is fairly slim so I've gone for plan B which is to use more modern (still older metal) legs and use them instead. What do you think?

He's mounted on a front rank horse at the moment but I haven't decided whether to stick with them ( it would fit the rest of my army) or to use the older plastic gw ones.

To be honest, i'm not sure if they are grail knight legs or not but they probably are. As you both approve I'll stick with this plan then. That gives me 80 cavalry to paint up. Best get going!

For me, the "new" legs on your old knights looks really fine.
Hope to see your 18 knights finished soon ! ^^

Lol! I have recurring nightmares about where those legs might be! What kind of heathen would have rejected these noble warriors and used all of there lower appendages in some medieval armoured centipede conversion? The horror!

Still.

I got them cheap.

Maybe the chap you got them off had some older torsos and decided to use newer legs on them.

What after all are you doing with the torsos from the new legs?

Erny's comment made me guilty about leaving a bunch of Grail knights legless (zoot allors Piere, I am zo pizzed! You eez my bestest squire you eez!) so I have been thinking about what plan C might consist of and finally decided to chop up a early 90's plastic knight of the realm and use that. What do guys think?

I think it looks ...ok....I'm afraid that scale creep is somewhat apparent in the proportions of the two pieces...the legs seem quite large to my eye. Once its painted up I think they would probably look fine...but at first glance I would continue to steal legs from the perry sculpts...which are larger too but not this big.

just my thoughts

I see your point but I think I know whats wrong. I cut the plastic figure above it's belt originally but I've now cut it below. Here's a comparison with the grail knight legs.

and it was also hard to see the last photo with the undercoated horse.

and while i'm here, look what I found in one of my boxes

That certainly helps some...I think its the size of the feet that seem most out of proportion to my eye. Again I think when painted up they would probably be fine...It might be worth hitting one with the brush and seeing what you think before you make a bunch more.

Thats an impressive box find! Instant small army!

BTW if you come across a bunch of extra mounted yeomen let me know...they are 3-4 more sculpts I'm having a hard time tracking down.

Cheers,

I suspect that when they are painted up and ranked together the feet will blend into the greater mass, you have my blessing to continue :)
