Well, what will I be painting for next year's BOYL, at the moment it looks as though the BFFG will be an all Elven affair, with a hint of Chaos - so, my intention is to continue painting up my barbarian/chaotic horde ( up to Christmas :o ) and then switch my attentions to my 'C' series, pre-slotta, Dark Elves on the run up to the event itself; with a bit of luck and good light, this might prove a very interesting project.

Enjoy the trip

Oh God, what have I done! Just taken a look at 'my' barbarian, Dark elf and found the boxes of Chaos stuff "to do"; oh god, what have I done! To think that whilst I was at Foundry - I brought more stuff, what was I thinking. Here's pictures of some of the stuff I brought for the barbarians-

and now with some of the stuff I already have for the barbarians / Chaos -

Anyway, I've set my target, I'll do my best and lets see where this journey takes us! Who's panicking now!

a close-up of the banner on one of the Dragon-Ogres backs, quite proud of this, with the grasping hands coming up around her feet! inspired by this: - http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Slaanesh

Enjoy the trip, as I make my way towards the Dark Elves

The D.Elf Coldone rider carrying the skull headed mace was one of my first miniatures also, and hence one of my favorites; in fact, have to say the entire 'C' series Dark Elves are one of my soft spots, in that period of the game, especially given their presence in the associated artwork - a surprise then, I don't have more of them painted really; hopefully this little task will up this situation right. 8-)

That's a scary amount of lead there, glad I'm not a Helf

It worries me as well , while reviewing the picture - I think I'm missing a few figures which means I've mislaid a box! :o  :?

Anyway, first coat applied & banner painted,

Big Fan of your Dark Elves here, keep em coming :)

Nice to know there are others out there who appreciate the classic 'C' series miniatures, welcome to the club. I'll post more pictures of these boys & girls in due course, unfortunately I've not painted any of these in the last ten years or so, my current concern is matching the old painting technique style, as my hand isn't has steady as it was and my eyes are seriously failing to pick-up the detail.

All the best

well, here you go the next colour applied, not a great deal of difference, but as the figure moves through the process I'm hoping for a good depth of colour.

Every journey begins with a single step. :)

OK, with the base colour done, I've now started to add the stripes for the cheque pattern, which was so much commented upon at BOYL2016. The green hardly shows against the blue, should really have used a darker colour, so, I tried the lift it by adding a light green, not sure it work, will try something similar on the red, here's hoping that once I add the skin high-lights, they'll stand out better.

With the poor weather yesterday, I've been able to spend a bit more time on the girls than I was intending this weekend, so here are a few pictures of things which are very much WIP - the round shields, with their cast-on pattern may change, but the oblong are pretty much there, in my opinion - not much I could do really apart from an interlocking pattern. figure now divided into blondes & brunettes now I'll be adding the metals, flesh tones, followed by the details - fur trim and jewels and eyes etc.

Enjoy

So, before I finish the ladies, I've assembled my next 'big' model to join my daemon horde - a Ral-Partha specialist piece, already to applying the undercoat, question is - how should I paint it? :o  :o  :o

Enjoy

She's a biggie! How are you planning to use her?

Sorry Fimm, but that's an interesting turn of phrase with so many meanings - I just had to laugh    ; but as far as the planned game goes - she'll be playing the part of a greater daemon, I'm thinking lower torso snake like, upper humanoid , as ever it's all down to the choice of colour, for the wings?

Wow soooo many lightly dresses female models...I wonder if there will be an oldhammer swimsuit edition.

Nice theme of the coming army.

Maybe make her match the banner? 8-pointed circle emblazoned on the wings?

Already, started painting her - grey, just haven't taken the next set of pictures of her or the completed 'girls, watch this space.

You know, I'd gladly set my army opposite yours anytime. They ought to look great from the altitude of the thirty foot general. They're colorful, creative, and maybe a touch theatrical. Speaking as someone who's spent the last twenty odd years, off and on, in theatre that's not remotely a bad thing. And above all they're really interesting. There's a lot of character and creativity in them. They look pretty darn good!

Thank you for your kind words, as you say - looking down at them from above at about three to five feet they look fine, its close-up that you see the truth of my meager efforts. On that subject here my latest WIP pictures on the Greater Daemon, not a lot of progress this week due to family commitments elsewhere, but hopefully you should see her moving on, soon.

As for the theatrical touches - I don't have a connection, but my family and friends do, so it must be down to them and I simply transpose their creativity into what I like to do.

well, managed to daub a bit of paint on to the daemon this morning whilst waiting for the ground to dry a bit, following all the rain yesterday - so here's my progress so far. M
Not sure about the red for the back of the lower torso, but I've made my choices, so we'll see. ;)
