A delivery of Bugmans

For the Oldhammer Ireland day I plan on hosting a game of Saga with my own custom battleboards for Dwarfs and Skaven.
The scenario is essentially an escort duty mission where Joe Bugman and a band of his rangers attempt to escort a delivery of Bugman's finest to a dwarf mining outpost. Unbeknownst to Joe and the miners a contingent of Skavan led by Gnawdoom the grey seer and Throt the Unclean are attempting to intercept this delivery believing the barrels to contain a magical potion that gives Dwarfs long life and courage. The mining outpost will have an inn and a single gyrocopter landing pad, the road to the mine is dangerous, and populated with all manner of creatures that will happily eat bearded or whiskered players alike.

The project gives me the opportunity to paint lots of little fellows as well as a bugman's cart, some other baggage markers and build a model of a dwarf mine and inn, so plenty to keep me occupied.
So I thought I would post up my progress with the Skaven forces so far. In total there will be 8 seers/plague monks/magicians, a unit of eight clan rats, 4 storm vermin, 8 giant rats/handlers, a unit of 8 jezzail troops and Throt with his rat ogre bodyguard.

So far we have, Gnawdoom and his fellow magicians.

Beautiful brushwork rounding off what sounds like a wonderful project.
I look forward to following this.

(A clever idea too: Using the SAGA rules for Warhammer. Not seen that before. :) ).

Lovely work. Takes me back to the pages of the spring '86 Journal - only with higher quality photos :)

Adding these to my painting references list, for when I finally get around to my skaven.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the battle boards too, having been lured into the realms of Saga by my local club (finally giving me an excuse to buy some of those Perry vikings! :) )

Thanks guys :)
The mocked up skaven battleboard has some art stolen from the spring 86 journal, namely the Blanche rat head in a circle from the article. Trying to find a nice Blanche dwarf head with side profile for the dwarf battleboard.
The Magnificent Sven artwork is as close as I can get in style so far.

Round bases for skirmish games are pretty good , I agree with you.
Saga rules are fun and easy to learn, you have played against revenants? I have the battle board but I'm looking for revenants rules.

Very good painting here !
And I like the SAGA rules. It's a very solid ruleset, and the battleboards add some depth to the game.
