Suber's HeroQuest

For some unknown reason I hadn't post my ongoing HeroQuest project over here :? (Well, not an unknown reason really; my mental scattering and general lazyness are in fact well known... )
Anyway, let me bring you then what I got so far!

First of all, the main characters ;)

And the baddies!

The Fimir:

I made then a few tombs (by now you can see that I got way too much of everything! :? )

Aaand my latest work so far, these Goblins and Orc Shaman:

I still have a lot of work ahead, but this is slowly growing and growing. I'll try to keep you updated on this!

Nice work Suber. Painting a set of HeroQuest is on my bucket list and I always enjoy seeing others doing the same.

The lone Night Goblin is curious though...did you loose one of the regular ones? I think I have about 100 spare ;) .

Great stuff Suber, your Fimir look great in particular.
I also like how you've painted the Elf like the cover art- I have a spare and must do the same

Thank you guys! :)

During all these years I'm afraid I might have lost some of the minis (I have found three of the wizards from the expansion, but have totally lost track of the Necromancer, for example; or most of the Ogres too  ) but as you can see I have also mustered some more! I believe the Night Goblin was from a White Dwarf, maaaany years ago.
When I'm done with all the original stuff I most probably will be wishing to expand the ranges with different minis. Oldschool looking minis, of course, but I'd like to have some more variety (ahem, Fimir, Diego ;) ). Everyone dreams with a full 3D dungeon, but that's another different issue (in which I'm not taking part for the moment!). For now I'm trying to paint all my stuff in the most classic way possible and then have a few games again! Then we will see, we will see...

I've done pretty much the same thing (start with the original set and then branch out) and I'm so glad I did- it's let me collect and paint heaps of lovely minis that I never would have had the reason to buy otherwise.
Wait, did I say I was glad I did it?
Nah, when I get burnt out painting "armies" it's great to pick out a barbarian, maiden, merchant or whatever for a nice change and refresh.

The Night Gobbo is from Battle For Skull Pass in 2007 I think, and I love that Orc Shaman!

Lovely - some more Heroquest! - as someone said above i have spare gobbos from heroquest if you need any more, and some Fimir.
I just finished the heros from this set myself - time to update the thread!

That Skull Pass gobbo is such an imposter. I particularly like your orcs and their pink lips, very old school and a good paint job too.

Thank you all! I have also added some furniture to make the minis comfortable in a cozy dungeon ;)

Of course, any well educated Gobbo thug needs a place of wisdom!

These are from Hasslefree. I was purchasing some zombies for another totally different project and just saw these. Ahhh, so many things to buy and so few clicks allowed...

Finally, these chests were a last minute addition. Will need more work, but for the moment they work for me

I now may take a rest from HeroQuest and move onto other different projects I still have pending as well. But I'll be back!

Pink eared gobbos!

All looks great. I'd have to collect another set to do this, I couldn't paint over my early enamel paint jobs.

Small update, August is being harsh, cannot find the hours to paint...

Chaos Warriors!

I was not brave enough to use bright colours. Though I've seen wonderful blue/orange/green Warriors, I've not been able to make it work on my models. So black it is, you can never go wrong with black

As you can see, the only thing I have dared to do is some slight conversions on the arms. Nothing special, but it works.

Now I'm browsing the net for some more furniture. Nice options, I may purchase some thingies along next weeks...

Yeah!! I like them!! Nice modified tombs also.
Some orcs on the front line have very nice dresses.
This is the first time I see someone painting orcs and goblins with pink ears inside and I have to say they look nice. Now I ask, why no one else did it also?

Here I go, the last bunch of minis . Undead are quite easy going to paint, I've enjoyed them. First the mummies:

kcja8p.jpg

I've been unable to recover the four original skellies. Apparently I used one of them during these 25 years for purposes I can't recall anymore. I have used this other skeleton from The Dark World:

Finally, the first zombies in a while I don't paint for Zombicide :

You can see it all in the blog:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.it/20 ... ndead.html

I've ended the original set of minis (plus the skeleton imposter ). Only some furniture left... Mwahahaha

This is all great work. It's nice to see the furniture painted as well; most efforts I have seen have focused on the heroes and enemies alone. I can testify to the joy of playing with a fully painted set of HQ miniatures, having had the pleasure of playing with Count von Bruno's set

That Dark World skelly fits really well, I haven't ever been able to find suitably large ones to match the HQ sculpts... must go hunt. My first army for WH was Undead, and mostly HQ skeletons, against which my genuine Citadel Undead legion looked, well, a bit flimsy!

Can we see a shot of all the baddies together when you get there? :)

Thank you all! I guess this is quite a personal project; after all HeroQuest was the beginning of all for me, this was the way I got into the crazyness of minis. I'm quite looking forward to have some games again.

Sure! I'm currently out of home, but I can take some shoots when I come back next week!

Ooopsie! Before I post family pics, let me show the latest addition to the project, the rest of the furniture. I ordered some stuff from Thomarillion and this is what I got:

w9ihav.jpg

Even a fireplace, I didn't expect to find that:

2d6tgqu.jpg

I'm aware I really didn't need this table; but it was soooo beautiful...

2j2zrpx.jpg

I say I didn't need it because I had already purchased this set by Fenris Games:

2v1nb5g.jpg

By then I was experiencing a temporary feeling of tiredness/anxiety, I really wanted this to finish. So, though my intention was doing the same that I did to the tombs, replacing cardboard etc, I just painted the plastic pieces and used the original cardboard:

In order to compensate my lazyness, I tried to put some effort on the altar book. I have two altars, so I did different things on them. For the first one I tried to mimic a medieval-looking illustration:

vg61d4.jpg

(yup, I know, the teachings of a wise Orc or maybe it's an Orc King, weird... but I was in the mood for that, my mind scatters through funny paces when it comes to these things )

You can find it all in the blog:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.e ... iture.html

With these I can declare finished Stage 1 of my long term plan for this game . I have a functional copy of HeroQuest again! In time I will work on the expansions, but for the moment I believe some games are in order... ;)

Global pics coming soon!
