Skarsnick's Goblin Army

It's been a long while, but I'm back from travelling and had a box of minis sent over from my stash.

Seems it is time to knuckle down to the enormous task of painting the gobbo horde. Whilst I have very few metals, I decided that I would go for a complete night goblin army as much as possible, incorporating the Heroquest models I have painted up already, a few old metals which are the faves, and a crapload of old GW plastics, Battlemasters plastics, new 8th ed plastics (which I really actually like), some old metal doom divers and wolf chariot, (courtesy of Oldhammer trade) and a smattering of snotlings and gnoblars. I have one Bloodbowl champ too that I picked up from a second hand store for a buck.

So, without further ado, let's get into the illustrious leader himself - Oldhammer Skarsnick and a very young Gobbla (or does he name all his squigs Gobbla)?

Oh, beautiful! The blue and gold is a great color scheme. (Always liked that. Though it makes me think of Cub Scouts because of a fundraiser called the "Blue and Gold Banquet.") Anyway . . . great goblin/orc color combo!

Time to put these little guys to the air.

I'm thinking of a single base for them all and putting some gnoblars on as the crew.

It's all about superior numbers when it comes to Gobbo's, right?

Well, it looks like they have those superior numbers you're aiming for. That's a lot of green there! Can't wait to see it all finished.

The painted ones so far...

The unpainted are 4 times in number, with Wolf riders, Archers and more spearmen, with a tonne of snotties

78 Goblin spearmen with light armour. Next phase; base painting the metal spear tips, belt buckles and studs in the leather armour.

Thanks! Yes, it does take determination alright, but there is something about loads of monopose that after a while becomes a kind of Zen. You develop a routine, fairly quickly, and just keep at it.

The end result, even though this is definitely speed painting, is rather satisfying, at every completion stage.

Goblin Shaman - all done up.
