I hear you! My buying needs to be curtailed, but Steve Casey keeps selling...

The jumper is probably more to do with good sculpting rather than good painting (base colour, inking and highlighting only).

Re: Citadel JD, Paranoia AND Gothic Horror

More lock down, more painting.

Sir Charles (Citadel CC1 Gothic Horror) has joined the bold group of adventurers investigating strange happenings in a New England fishing town, where the residents walk with a distinctive shambling gait and have "queer narrow heads with flat noses and bulgy, stary eyes".

One of my personal favourites in the range so far - he looks to be based upon the John Pertwee Doctor Who (Citadel/Fasa) model from 1985 (just as the Drunk and the Hobo are based upon the Tom Baker's model). There is another model in the range which I don't currently own simply called "investigator" based on the same John Pertwee model, but with a different head and wearing a deerstalker. However for me this is the best one of three, and was fantastic fun to paint.

Out of interest does anyone know which came first? The Doctor Who miniatures or the Gothic Horror range? (both are listed as 1985 - although more Gothic were added in 1987).

Number two - and quite possibly one of the wee beasties that he will be encountering...

This is "fishman" from the Citadel C18 Night Horrors range. Clearly based upon the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and painted as such. I'm slightly disappointed in this one - colours are duller than i'd hoped for and I've gone for very pedestrian colour choices. That said I love the miniature and (as with "apeman") have therefore taken the plunge and bought a second one to paint up with a bit more of a vibrant colour scheme. If anyone of the forum has anymore spare fishmen that they'd like to trade or sell for a reasonable price please let me know and I'll happily take them off you (would like a good few in different hues).

Lastly - and only shared for the sake of completeness - I painted up another Cop. This one in an action pose.

He's tiny - a Wee Jimmy Krankie of a Cop - which is one of my excuses for the paint job. That and bad light, and paint drying too quickly...- he's passable, but not a favourite paint job or miniature by a long shot. He's not the worst miniature in the range but he's definitely not the best either.

The trick is not to show the ones that have gone wrong ;)

Re: Citadel JD, Paranoia AND Gothic Horror

group shot of my painted GH minis - just for the fun of it

and an assortment of greeblies

lockdown seems to be having a positive influence on my output but many more to be painted and - I think I count around the same number of GH which are primed and in some cases based coated... will they every be completed? will I actually get round to painting the other angel gang members? will I get massively distracted by something else in the meantime? (probably yes). Watch this space!

This has probably been said before, but the minister in the background, in the black with what I presume is a crucifix or icon of some kind, really looks like he's taking a selfie. Crucifix cell phone?

Anyway, that's a heck of a collection there. :D

Thanks as always for supportive comments - helps to motivate. Am slowly picking up pieces here and I think I now own about 3/4 of the range (just the really rare or ugly stuff left). There's a good variety of models and so its quite fun just picking something random out of the pile.

That particular minister is holding a crucifix - presumably hoping to keep something much taller at bay. There is a second version - much nicer in fact - that has a minister pointing (again, presumably, at something much taller than him!)

He's the only one here who's not actually from Citadel, but he's a lovely mini isn't he? He's originally from Ral Partha I think? (correct me if I'm wrong), sold through Mirlition http://www.mirliton.it/nightmares/cursed-one-nm014

He's based upon Tsathoggua and was first described as "...very squat and pot-bellied, his head was more like a monstrous toad than a deity, and his whole body was covered with an imitation of short fur, giving somehow a vague sensation of both the bat and the sloth. His sleepy lids were half-lowered over his globular eyes; the tip of a queer tongue issued from his fat mouth."

Definitively think the miniature fits the description

Re: Citadel JD, Paranoia AND Gothic Horror

This weekend's efforts. Mixed views on these. The Hillbilly has the smallest head and when he's stood next to Fu Manchu/C'mere it's really noticeable.

Hillbilly was a trade and had base colours on already and I lazily inked and painted over rather than stripping - the blue denim dungarees came out good and I like his skin, but the shirt's a bit messy. Still needs basing. The yellow on C'mere came out just okay, but i find its the worst colour to paint - I would rethink that if I had to do again.

Still, progress is progress
