Giaks for Warhammer

Just interested in whether anyone ever put together a Giak army using the 'list' (as I suppose we could call it) from the Citadel Journal?

I 've never owned any Giak minis myself, my plan has always been to use regiments of Goblins. It's been in the back of my mind for an army for more than 25 years now - and I'd be very interested in finding out if anyone's done it.

Google search is your friend. Type Giak and information pours at you. Grey orc-like race, from some fantasy fiction.

I always thought Giaks were from Lone Wolf... are they from somewhere else?

Re: Giaks for Warhammer

Yeah, that's right - Giaks are very militaristic grey Goblins from the Lone Wolf books. They're slightly tougher than normal Goblins, between Goblins and Hobgoblins.

In the Citadel Journal (the second one maybe?) a kind of WHFB army list (in the form of an army organisation chart) was published along with stats for both Giaks and some giant troglodyte-things called Gourgaz which sometimes lead Giak units. There were 9 infantry units in it (all 36 strong) with some notes about organisation for other units like (Doom-)wolf-riders.

You can get some Giak images from google, or go to these pages at Stuff of Legends, which show the whole range, and the pages from the Journal:

I've not built a Giak army but Joe Dever has, His giak minis:

I noticed Matchlock Miniatures have a new range out for Lone Wolf, don't know how they scale with old Perry ones or normal gobbos:

Also like Otherworlds Goblins for Giaks (although painted grey of couse) - they have a bit of Gary Chalks art about the face.

Re: Giaks for Warhammer

Thanks for the info Zhu Bajie - those Matchlock Miniatures look ace!

Good to see Joe's too - I suspect I shall never own the 324 Giak minis necessary to build the entire Orgar Reken(n)ar, but I just might manage it using a lot of plastic Goblins. I hope so.
