Retro video games?

Any fans of retro video games here?

I'm not exclusively a retro gamer, I have a PS3 and I play some PC games (those released for Linux in any event) but I do love some gaming from the 16 bit era. I have a Sega Genesis upstairs, hooked up to an old TV for two player games, and I have a fully working Amiga computer in our bedroom, hooked up to a modern PC monitor.

With a high amount of UK people on here, any other old Amiga fans? Ever get the urge for a quick bout of Alien Breed or Cannon Fodder? Or of course the best versions of Space Hulk and Space Crusade.

I have MAME installed and love old arcarde games, some Bubble Bobble, Pacland, Metal Slug -
Haven't had an AMIGA for some time now but in my display case is my original Sensible World of Soccer!
As for Cannon Fodder - that soundtrack by Mr O'hare was ace.
"War - Never been so much fun"
Heres one for you - Speedball 2 "brutal Deluxe" - sort of like blood bowl with "ICEEEEEEEEEE CREAM"

Still play Speedball 2 with buddies from time to time. Always good for a laugh over a few beers. :)

We tend to play the Genesis version, since my friends prefer controllers but the music is far better on the miggy.

I still have my trusty old Commodore C64/2 and my old Commodore Amiga 500. Sadly I did not find the time to use them very often. Maybe once or twice a year.

Mine in an Amiga 1200. She's pretty upgraded now. 68030 processor and a 4 GB hard drive (using a compact flash card). Back in the day, it was 2 MB of RAM and floppy disk only :)

i was an atari fan, having the vcs, the vcs computer, the atari 400 and atari 800xl.... before the transition to IBM pc.
i still get the vcs out occasionally, but mostly use the Jakks tv game since coaxials are soooo out of fashion on tv these days.

That's hardcore :) :geek:

 I learned 6502 on said elk in the 80's and I still find it a really fascinating piece of kit to play with some 30 years on! :) I still enjoy a lot of the games on the elk and BBC. Starship Command still plays a superb game. :)

I've had several A500, A600, A1200 and even an A1000 for a short while. Used to be a raging, frothy fanboy up until the early 2000s when I sold off my pimped up 1200 (also a 030, with the memory circuits from an old Soundblaster AWE32 if I'm not mistaken). I used to have a great, big honking demo collection and while I loved playing games, the part I liked the most was CLI and WB wrangling, setting up pack disks etc with entertanining interfaces and so on. And doing graphics in DP. Nowadays I can't stand tinkering with computers, so I just kick back with my modern Apple machines and enjoy the information super highway. Ie cat pics, facebook and streamed porn.

My Dad got the Mac + when it was released, this resulted in me and my brother playing Shufflepuck :

And Dark Castle :

There were a whole lot of very good games on that machine.

I also used play a lot of Barbarians when at my cousin's but I always ended being more absorbed by their lead than their computer

Not that old school, but anybody remember the Mutant League Football and Ice Hockey games for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis?
Very Blood Bowl, I used to play the bejeesus out of MFL.

Golden Axe! Tyris Flare! I loved that game!

I showed my Son a 'Let's Play' on You Tube and he laughed and said is that from 1960..... these PS4 Generation kids missed all the fun hahahahaaa!

I'm currently re playing all the Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale games! I love those soooooo much! Not strictly 'Retro' but then again, a game released in 1998 and 2001 on Windows 98 is damn ancient by today's standards!!!!

Now I need to spend about €900 to build a new PC so I can play Pillars of Eternity

Games from my youth, in no particular order;

The Azure bond's. It was a great game, turn based, with plenty to keep me occupied on my 386 EGA PC. Best part of the game was giving female bodies to the male characters....you could really go nuts on character creation

Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. Played this one to death! Highlight was designing your own games, taking on fifteen B-17's with a Komet-163. Oh, and listening to Chuck's dolset tones was fun too.

Fallout 1 & 2. A friend showed this to me back in the day, but for some reason it didn't impress me. Tried it years later & was hooked. Too much awesome to describe

Arch Rivals on the SNES. So much fun was had with this game. King hitting your opponent's in the back of the head as they ran for the basket.......ah, good times

The first medal of honour games on the PS1. I had it hooked up to my amp, so I could kill Nazis in stereo.

That's about all I can recall at this time, I'm having a senior moment. But one things for sure, I don't play games as often as I used to, too busy playing with old lead minis :)

Cheers.

I knew you were a man of taste!Fallout 1 and 2are my absolute favourites and Chuck Yeagers air comabt, man how many hours did I spend on that one... and syndicate too !

Oh yeah, I forgot Syndicate!

Man, how I loved gaussing the hell out of the cars, people & anything I could find in the last mission. I replayed it so many times......trying to ignite 100% of the civilians, alas, it wasn't to be :(

Pitstop was a cool game too, on the Commodore 64. Your tyres changed colour as they wore out & you could blow up you fuel tank in the pits of you overfilled it!

I made my degree film on an AMiga, Deluxe paint was aweome.

I play a fair amount of retro games. I am always up for some Might and Magic 3 play by email. Or games on WinUAE. Games like laser squad or Lords of CHaos are good, even moon stomes, as you can email the saves to each other for over the net play by mail.
