Assault on Yaxley IV

Bzzzz, bzzzzz…eliminate the rebel presence, use lethal force…

In the wilderness Chittock and Commissar Haque felt safe, two grunts from the penal platoon patrolling the ridge and ratling sniper Britton kept his eagle eyes trained on anything that moved.

…Rebels identified, proceeding with extreme force…

The five Desert Storm Marines planned their surgical strike, no weapons of mass destruction were present thus Cheney and Rumsfeld would laydown supressing fire while Rice, Bush and Powel would sweep round and storm the camp.

Boltguns peppered the rebel positions, keeping them behind cover with only the sniper returning fire but their power armour kept Cheney and Rumsfeld safe.

Fire in the hold…despite giving up the drink Bush found him legless. ‘When will he do something stupid’ known unknown occurred with Bush tossing the pin but dropping the frag grenade which disastrously exploded at his feet, leaving the kill team a man down.

Choosing a more aggressive stance Powel and Rice charged forward and engaged Captain Chittock in hand to hand combat. Chittocks chainsword cut Powell to size but couldn’t handle Rice who then exchanged fire with Commissar Haque; bagging both rebel leaders in a matter of seconds.

Alas things were not going well for Cheney and Rumsfeld who discovered that despite being an abhuman Britton was certainly deadly, the sniper bagging two marines with two shots. Alas his third missed and Rice’s kill count went to three leaving one marine verses two Penal grunts. The Emperor protects, or so it’s said and his will prevented lasgun fire from hitting the Adeptus Astartes and soon there was a solitary living rebel.

One verse one…confident the Emperors finest took aim but as he pulled the trigger the penal grunt was quicker and with his lasgun funding its mark. Ronel stood alone, the last member of the Yaxley Rebellion. Scrabbling around Chittocks body he recovered the transponder and used it to deactivate his explosive collar….time to run, time to hide and in time he’ll have further adventures.

A successful first game of 40K with my partners son, using a hybrid set of rules taken from all over the place (mostly RT but bits of other versions to make things run smoother). Alas Evander preferred it to Fantasy Battle so looks like I need to get painting Squats, Orks and Space Marines!
