Chapter 1 -
"Moorgoo Lillypad Blossom Usuthu (the Slann Brave) awoke early. He relished the traditional Pygmy breakfast of boiled snake and man fingers. The Slann diplomatic mission had slept beyond the perimeter of the Pygmy Village, with their weapons next to them. They had learned from the last Slann party who agreed to Pygmy 'hospitality' and parted with their weapons upon entering the encampment -as ,they were told, was the tradition for guests. They were butchered in the night. Moorgoo was one of a small war band accompanying the Slann local commander Grakno on his mission to convince the Pygmy's not to hunt Coatl and to raise a Pygmy militia ahead of the planned raid to gather fresh slaves from the Human Settlement. Usually Moorgoo enjoyed these forages in to the territories of the Pygmy, yet this morning he was nervous. The Pygmy village was located just beyond the lush jungles of Lustria, to the North East, next to the unexplored mountains of Keeelkreeky. Furthermore, the Pygmys had captured the week before the Chaos Knight Grenja, accused of poisoning their War Turtle, and being tortured for the antidote. The reasons for Grenja's presence in the region had yet to be attained, and the Slann feared he would not survive the Pygmy ritualistic torture. Moorgoo, reached for his blow pipe as the rest of his Venom Tribe awoke and it was now that he became aware of a commotion beyond the eastern side of the Village...

Chapter 2...
"Unbeknown to Grakno or Moorgoo or any Slann, the previous week a Pygmy raiding party had - disobeying the laws of the Slann central authority - entered the Keelkreeeky Valley. There they had found a large skull, a gift from the Gods? certainly a mighty War Drum. The skull ,along with a large strangely shaped Y leopard fur, were brought to the village for the inspection of the Pygmy Witch Doctor. However, unbeknown to the Pygmys, they had just looted and desecrated the tomb of the deceased Giant Rugvoorst - Tribal Chief of the Keelkreeky Clan. The commotion that Moorgoo was now witnessing was a panicked , fleeing Pygmy scout reporting in broken screams , as he fled back towards the Village that Giants were approaching. For the enraged son of Rugvoorst , Moj now appeared with 5 more of the Keelkreeeky Clan Giants and an ally contingent of Green skins. Intent on revenge and recapturing the sacred Skull relic the assault on the Pygmy village begins...to add to the confusion the Pygmys had by chance built their settlement around a large rock, providing shade and ideal for storing shrunken heads but also being - The sleeping Stone Idol (which Moj could awaken and unleash if he got within 12 inches - furthermore - drawn to the commotion and shreeking was the Huntress Grizinja and her flock of deadly Giant Frogs - appearing on a random table edge and moving in D12 random direction attacking the nearest unit)"

Chapter 3 - The Battle begins...

"The Pygmy Witch Doctor throws away his coffee, raises his sacred bone staff and the Slann and Pygmys form a defensive perimeter. To the North appear 4 Giants and a Snottling Pump wagon, to the East - Trolls and a Giant, to the South the tattood Giant, Orc Boar riders and a unit of Goblins, finally from the West appears the Giant Chief - Moj and 10 orc archers.
-
The Giant's assault is slowed by animosity, stupidity and drunkenness, with single rules for each giant - the long legged Albion giants being faster and able to hurl rocks, the tattood giant being -1 to hit, while the red haired giants being more prone to drunkenness. Far from the leadership of Moj animosity affects the green skins and Giants allowing the defenders of the Pygmy Village to move in to defensive positions.
-
The first casualties are Pygmy Scouts on the east, shot by the Orc archers, however the response is immediate - the Pygmy War Chief on Cockatrice charges the Orc Boar riders - hoping to rout them and spread panic...

"To the west of the village the Pygmy warriors prepare to face Moj, slowed by drunkenness and wounded by poison darts from the second unit of Pygmy Scouts. The Slann palace guard face north as the Albion giants approach - the hurled rock missing the Slann but crushing the Witch Doctor's Hut. The Alligator warriors are left alone to face the trolls on the East - however, also Stupid and unable to advance they are flank charged by . . . Grizinja and her Giant Frogs - and routed. The Alligator Warriors begin to turn to help the southern front, where the Goblins and Tattood Giant now threaten.
-
Grenja on the torture rack, screams for help, bringing 10 more Orcs on the Eastern table edge, but they are also devoured by the Giant Frogs. As the Witch Doctor unleashes fireballs and wounding the Albion Giants, perhaps there is yet hope for the defenders of the Village? ...though the Pygmy War chief on Cockatrice fails to rout the Boar Riders, and is flank charged by a Giant , ripped from his Beast and stuffed in to the Giant's bag.

As the Albion Giants charge the Slann palace guard, first killing the Aztec Orc (raised by Slann) , the Pump Wagon unharmed by Poison Darts crashes through and wipes out the Pygmy scouts and straight in to the sleeping Stone Idol and is destroyed. The Slann Guard are routed, though later regroup...though now the Witch Doctor fireball's finally cut down one of the Albion Giants. Then at last, Grenja, before escaping the next turn and killing his tormentors gives the antidote for the War Turtle...The War Turtle slowly aproaches the Albion Giant, but is charged - bawled and shouted at, routed and crushed.
-
To the south, the Goblins at last in combat hold off the Venom Tribe, but the Great Bull frog routs them. The Alligator Warrior prepare for the assault of the Boar Boys, but are flanked and destroyed by a Giant (though at this moment the Pygmy war Chief escapes the bag, loosing 1 wound from the fall to the ground below.)

Only the Pygmy Witch Doctor stands in the way of the Albion Giant and the sacred Giant's skull. But another fireball cuts down the Giant. On the west of the village, Moj at last is charged by the Pygmy warriors and they inflict more wounds on him. Down to 1 wound Moj attempts to eat a single Pygmy - but he manages to stab and kill Moj just before being devoured...

However, to the South, the Venom Tribe rout, the Alligator Warriors are gone and so the Sacred Skull of Rugvoorst and the mysterious Y shaped Leopard fur are reclaimed by the Keeelkreeky Clan Giants. In a final act of desperation the Pygmy War chief charges the Orc boar boys on foot, and is hacked down. With the defenses gone, the celebrating Pygmy Warriors standing over the corpse of Moj, are charged in the rear by the Giant fresh from destroying the Alligator warriors. The Pygmys rout , but cant flee fast enough and are wiped out...

Moj has fallen. His skull will soon be placed next to his father's reclaimed Skull in the Valley of Keeelkreeeky shrine. The Stone Idol still sleeps. Grenja has escaped - his presence in Lustria still unexplained. Grizinja roams free. Meanwhile, Moorgoo, still awaiting breakfast, escapes with the other surviving Venom Tribe, reformed Palace Guard, and the Pygmy Witch Doctor the sole survivors of the Assault on the Pygmy Village / Battle of the Giant's Skull."

Thanks for a good game and a fine beginning to a great weekend. Glad the rules we cooked up for this made for a close fight until the end. Photos look great and was good to see so many pygmies and slann take the field. Looking forward to a festive rematch
Also a privilege to play on Foundry’s lovely tables with their classic terrain, worth the trip alone.
